Thanks to Apple's secrecy, when they Introduce a new gadget, case makers have to scramble to make accessories that fit it properly. The new iPad is a perfect example, yet OtterBox was able to create and ship their ruggedized iProtection case
rather quickly. In fact, before the new iPad was announced, back when everyone expected it to be called the iPad 3, OtterBox was teasing the press, promising an iPad 3 case would be ready almost immediately.
You might have heard of 2K video. It delivers (horizontally – but not vertically, at least not in the widescreen mode!) a little bit more resolution (2048) than Full HD (1920).
Ever since I bought my new iPad, which is more power hungry than the iPad 2, I have been looking for ways to keep it charged. I have several iPhone docks around the house, but they don't have room to support an iPad.
My 11 year old is not looking forward to the upcoming frog dissection portion of her science class, so I was very interested in the Frog Dissection
app from Punflay. The app leverages the large touchscreen and interactive nature of the iPad to provide a realistic simulation of the process I remember... and still cringe when thinking about it.

Two years ago, at $1600/ticket plus expenses, I wasn't sure if I would go, and tickets sold out in 8 days. Last year I determined ahead of time that I would go, and tickets sold out in one day! But I did indeed make it and got to see Steve Jobs one last time. Expect tickets to sell out today, so don't delay!
(A quick note: I know I've published quite a lot of articles in the last 1-2 days – for example, some three yesterday. The sole reason for this is that I, at last, have had some free time – as opposed to the past two years, when I had very little time for writing – and could resume writing. Hope I'll be able as much as back in the good old days of Windows Mobile ;-) ).
In one of my yesterday's articles (see THIS), answering a request from a forum member, I've promised I'd write an application that shows a text editing field next to a video player (with a Pause / Start icon) so that you can easily write a transcription of a video.
I've recently received an e-mail with a question from one of my readers, Eric Vinicius, asking for my opinion on the effects of upscaling Full HD video (1920*1080) to the slightly wider (2048 pixels) screen of the iPad 3 to fill it entirely and not to leave a 64-pixel black bar on the two sides of it.
Today, now that I've created a highly reliable, high-quality test video (it's available HERE), I've finally run some tests to find out what the situation really is.

What's bigger than an iPhone, smaller than a MacBook, and the most anticipated Apple product since the original iPhone? On January 27, at a special invitation only event at the San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Steve Jobs announced Apple's new "magical, revolutionary product" -- the iPad. Meant to fill the gap between the laptop and phone, Jobs said it was "way better" than either. Let's take a look at it.
Thin, lightweight, and powerful
The iPad shares many hardware features with the iPhone, including an accelerometer, an orientation sensor to switch from portrait to landscape mode, solid-state memory, and the same 30-pin doc connector. Connectivity is also virtually the same, with wireless 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR included on all models.
iPad runs iPhone apps!
The iPad will run a version of iPhone OS, and the new device can run virtually any app developed for the iPhone or iPod touch. Aps developed for the iPhone can run on the iPad in native resolution but is large enough to touch type on.
The larger screen not only makes familiar iPhone apps like Calendar, Mail, and Safari look stunning, it also provides screen real estate for more complex elements in the UI. For example, Calendar display a split-sreen view that describes the day's appointments on the left and shows you a color map of used time slots on the right. The split-screen view in Contacts displays you contacts list on the left and the full information for the contact you've selected on the right.
An ebook reader and more
Although not build into the iPad, Apple will offer a free app called iBooks, which will allow you to download and read books from it's new virtual bookstore. The new iBooks store will be accessed from and as easy to use as iTunes.
The ultimate media device?
The iPad is not the world's first tablet PC or the first eBook reader. Toshiba, Lenovo, Acer, and others sell Windows-based tablets, and Amazon has had considerable success with it's Kindle. But Apple thinks the iPad will reinvent the category by offering a vastly superior multi-touch interface an easy access to a wide-variety of apps and media via iTunes. Aple hopes to make the iPad the ultimate media device by leveraging it's existing assets which include over 100 million paying iTunes customers, established relationships with music and video content providers, and over 100,000 iPhone OS app developers.
