4 Best Apps for Journaling
By Conner Carey
How we journal and keep diaries has changed along with technology. I remember when voice-command password protected journals were all the rage, but as the Internet grew in scope, LiveJournal took over. Now, apps are the most convenient and often consistent way to keep a journal. It’s likely with you at all times since you have your phone, and most journal apps allows you to include pictures for further personalization. I looked through dozens of available journal apps; here’s my list of the four best apps for journaling.
While I appreciate my Apple Watch, it does introduce hassles like daily charging and extra heft, not to mention the price tag. There are more affordable smart watches and fitness bands but they often have their own drawbacks. The folks at Simple Matters think they have an alternative. The Ditto ($39.95) is a lot more affordable and it really shines when it comes to battery life. The Ditto ships with a button-cell battery that is rated to last from three months to as long as six months. They say it never needs charging, but that's a bit of a stretch because the battery does need to be replaced, eventually. Still, that is a huge difference from a device that needs to be charged daily or even weekly.

Want to know how to remove duplicate contacts in your iPhone? When you have multiple entries in Contacts for a single person, you can link the contacts together into a unified contact card. However, if you link two contacts with different first or last names, only one name appears on the unified card, so you'll need to decide which name to use.

Best Vegan Recipe Apps
By Conner Carey
One of the best things about recipe apps is being able to find yummy ideas that reflect your nutritional and ethical choices. Particularly for those with restrictive diets whether for Celiac’s Disease, Diabetes, or chosen regimes like going Vegetarian, recipe apps make life easier. Our editor in chief, Donna Cleveland passed along an awesome Vegan mac & cheese recipe the other day that was amazingly delicious. Now I’m curious about other meat and dairy free meals I can make at home, so I decided to do a roundup of the best Vegan apps.
Tim Cook Joins Tech CEOs, Billionaires, and Politicians for Secret Event to Discuss Donald Trump
By Conner Carey
Tim Cook, tech CEOS, billionaires, and politicians got together last weekend at a private resort off the coast of Georgia to talk about, who else, Donald Trump. Well, sorta. The event was the American Enterprise Institute’s annual World Forum which is an “informal gathering of leading thinkers from all ideological backgrounds to discuss challenges that the United States and the free world face in economics, security and social welfare,” as described by spokeswoman Judy Stecker. Also in attendance was Elon Musk, Google co-founder Larry Page, Facebook investor Sean Parker, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton, and many more.
How to Peek at a Bookmark without Opening It
By Conner Carey
When it comes to 3D Touch, it’s hard to know when you can and can't use it. Since it’s a fairly new feature on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, even Apple apps are still updating software to include options like Quick Actions or Peek & Pop. One such occasion when you might not realize you can use Peek & Pop for is when viewing your Bookmarks in Safari. This is a great way to see where your saved links lead and makes clearing old bookmarks much quicker.
Trekz Titanium Headphones: Listen to Music Through Your Bones
By Conner Carey
Before stumbling upon Trekz Titanium ($129.99) by AfterShokz, I had never heard of headphones that skip your ears and play music through your cheekbones. But once I discovered them, I had to give it a try. It seems absolutely counterintuitive to listen to music solo without obstructing the ear, but that’s exactly what the headphones promise to do. They’re designed to deliver premium sound while keeping your ears open to traffic noises and other ambient sounds; so, does it work?
Walkie Talkie Style Communication Comes to the iPhone
By Todd Bernhard
As a kid, I loved playing with walkie talkies. Long before cellphones, or even cordless phones, it was a way to run around the neighborhood and play cops and robbers, astronauts and aliens, etc. I even got a CB radio for my car when I was 16. So embracing cellphones was no surprise, but I missed the push-to-talk feature. Now, there are a few ways to achieve this and it's not just about fun. If you are on the slopes, skiing or snowboarding, you will want to stay in touch with your friends. It could even be a matter of life or death, if there's an avalanche or you fall. That's why I'm so excited about the YodelUP Kickstarter offering that starts at a very reasonable $69.
On Feb 25, Apple filed an official motion opposing the US court order for the company to help FBI unlock the iPhone 5c, recovered from the San Bernardino shooter. This controversial subject that has divided public opinion continues as more and more tech companies stand with Apple with even the United Nations coming to Apple’s defense. Last night, Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering at Apple, published an op-ed with the Washington Post stating that to help the FBI would “slow our pace, reverse our progress, [and] puts everyone at risk.”
How to Remove Cookies from Your iPhone
By Conner Carey
Internet browsers allow websites to store cookies on your device to improve your experience. When you visit a website and it remembers your email and password for you, that’s a cookie working. However, some people would prefer to not have their cookies on, especially when it comes to remembering data and tailoring advertisements to the user. Or, instead of blocking cookies altogether, you can also clear them every now and again. Here’s how to block cookies and how to remove cookies already on your iPhone.
In many areas in the smartphone and tablet industry Apple has blazed the trail, creating devices that are unparalleled in their user interface, practicality, and usefulness. Apple has managed to either out-innovate its competition or simply out-perform them. In some instances, Apple set the trend, as was the case with the first-to-market device of its kind, the original iPhone. In other instances, like the Apple Watch, Apple may not have been the first to offer a product of this kind, but the sales, popularity and customer satisfaction levels of the Apple Watch have gone on to far exceeded that of its closest competitors. Now, as the world gradually acknowledges the potential of Virtual Reality (VR), the question arises: will Apple be content to sit on the sidelines while other companies, like Google, Samsung, and Oculus become the dominant forces in this emerging new medium, or does Apple have a thing or two up its sleeves when it comes to Virtual Reality?
