Rumors: iPad Pro to Launch First Week of November

According to Japanese blog Mac Otakara, the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard will be available the first week of November. Apple announced the iPad Pro in September but has yet to release an official launch date. However, Apple continues to build anticipation for the new device, sending it to Disney for a test run.

Clearly Apple recognizes how valuable the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil are for an artist. First Pixar gave it a try and now Disney. Jeff Ranjo, Disney Story Artist, tweeted a link to his Periscope so curious followers could watch the iPad Pro and pencil in action. He demonstrates drawing apps Procreate and Paper in the video and comments on the Apple Pencil, wondering why there isn’t an eraser.

I can’t tell if Apple is using Pixar and Disney for stealth marketing or as guinea pigs; either way, it’s getting the attention of commentators and fans.

If the iPad Pro and accessories do indeed launch the first week of November, Apple will likely start pre-orders by mid-October. Apple’s iPad Pro starts at $799 for a 32 GB Wi-Fi model and scales up to $949 for a 128 GB Wi-Fi model or $1079 for a 128 GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The Apple Pencil is sold separately for $99, and the Smart Keyboard will cost another $169.
