Tapplock Adds Waterproofing to Its Smart Fingerprint Padlock

The folks at Tapplock have updated their Tapplock One, which I reviewed last year, for the better. The new Tapplock One+ ($99) is the same price as last year's model, but the new version has some welcome enhancements. In particular, the new model is waterproof and not just water resistant. The locking mechanism is stronger and should stand up to all but the most aggressive of burglars.

The upgrades make me more likely to use the Tapplock one+ on my outdoor shed, which is subject to rain and snow all too often. I still have concerns about the proprietary charging cable, but fortunately you should only have to use it once a year. The downside to that is if you only need a proprietary cable once every year, you might misplace it.

Pros

  • Fingerprint reader for a padlock
  • Heavy duty and now waterproof not just water resistant
  • Free companion app
  • Volume discounts
  • Bluetooth and Morse Code unlocking options

Cons

  • Proprietary charging cable
  • Heavy

Final Verdict

The Tapplock one+ delivers fingerprint-based padlock and is now better with waterproofing.
