Review: Testa iPhone Folio Case Features Stand and Sound Amplification

The Testa iPhone case ($49.99) from CaseCo. offers several different valuable features that very few, if any, cases have so far, and it does so in one nicely designed, comfortable, well-built, protective case made out of hard rubber and pseudo leather. The first feature, which you will notice immediately, is the clear window on the top of the folio cover. This allows the time and caller ID to be visible without opening the flap. I've seen this for Android phones but it's rare for iPhones.

The next feature you might notice, if you look carefully at the bottom right, is a built-in sound-enhancing speaker amplifier that redirects the audio toward the user, as it should have been in the first place. Some entrepreneurs have created standalone gadgets that snap on to an iPhone or iPad to do this, so it's nice to see this functionality built in to an iPhone case. The mechanism requires no power, although it does protrude a bit and could make the phone hard to plug in to some docks.

The next feature the Testa includes is the ability to prop the case up in landscape mode, as the folio cover folds into a stand. That cover protects the screen and includes a slot for a credit card or ID, but not much more than that. The case is available in some interesting colors besides black, namely turquoise and pale green. They could use some more traditional color choices and I would like an iPhone SE version.

Testa

Pros

  • See-through window for Caller ID
  • Landscape stand
  • Folio style, protects screen with slot for credit card
  • Built-in speaker amplifier
  • Interesting color choices

Cons

  • Could use more color choices
  • No iPhone SE version
  • Speaker amplifier could obstruct some docking stations

Final Verdict

The Testa case is a practical case that offers good protection plus some valuable features like speaker amplification, a see-through window for Caller ID, and a slot for credit cards or ID.
