Review: Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker for Home or on the Go

When choosing accessories like wireless Bluetooth speakers, too often you have to choose between style, sound, and functionality. Not so with the MP700 ($229.99) from Edifier. The MP700 is a heavy-duty-but-beautiful speaker that would be right at home in an Apple Store The MP700 sports a convenient handle that rotates and can be used to prop up and angle the speaker.

The MP700 is portable and uses an eight-hour battery. There is also a USB port so you can power your wireless device and play music through the connection. You can also connect via Bluetooth, aux (using the provided cable), and for the Android devices that support it, via NFC Near Field Communication. The MP700 offers a lot for a reasonable $229.99, but ideally it would be waterproof.

The MP700 offers great sound and you can adjust the volume or control the music from your smart device or from the rubberized buttons on the speaker. Although the device has just three buttons, the + and - buttons double as Fast Forward and Rewind when you press and hold.

Pros

  • Heavy-duty construction
  • Beautiful art-gallery-worthy design
  • Convenient handle
  • Eight-hour battery
  • USB, Bluetooth, aux, and NFC support

Cons

  • Not waterproof
  • Could use more buttons

Final Verdict

If you are looking for a speaker that you can take with you and look good at the same time, the MP700 will do the trick.
