Review: iHome's Bluetooth Speaker with Alarm Clock & Alexa Integration

I'm a big fan of iHome's iPhone and iPad accessories; they have a ton of features and the iAVS16 Alexa Bedside Speaker ($126.96–$149.99) is no exception. Let's try to cover all of its best features.

You get an alarm clock with Bluetooth speaker capability. So far, that's par for the course. There is a color accent light that supports six different colors so the speaker can also work as a night light. There's a USB port for charging your phone, which is handy. But what really sets the iAVS16 apart is the integrated Alexa capability. And it's voice activated, so you don't have to tap a button, which is a big selling point. If you like to automate your home, as I do, this will be useful. And it gets better as iHome has announced IFTTT support is coming soon.

The one big flaw is the absence of wireless Qi charging, though you could add a Qi pad to the USB port.

  • Alexa voice activation built in
  • IFTTT support coming soon
  • Compact, colorful design
  • Alarm clock with integrated Bluetooth speaker
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions

  • No Qi charging

Final Verdict

If you use Alexa and need an alarm clock and Bluetooth speaker, and a way to charge your iPhone, the iAVS16 can do it all while taking up very little space on your nightstand.
