Review: This Compact, Portable External Battery Pack Will Charge an iPhone 3 Times

I'm always on the lookout for a great battery pack. I attend a lot of tradeshows and am away from a power outlet for most of the day. In preparation for such a show next week, I'm taking the Mini External Battery Backup Charger ($19.97–$39.99) from LAX Gadgets.

The LAX battery packs a powerful 10,000 mAh battery which is enough to charge an iPhone more than three times. Despite all that power, it has a compact size. LAX says it's the size of a credit card, but that only describes the width and height. When you include the depth, it's more like the size of a deck of cards, which is still quite pocketable. It also has a nice, comfortable, rubbery grip. Mine is basic black but it also comes in gray, red, or pink.

The power is provided in two 5V/2A USB ports so it can also feed power-hungry devices like an iPad. Another nice touch is that it is 1.2 Meter drop tested to military standard.

Pros

  • Powerful 10,000 mAh battery pack
  • Compact size with rubbery grip
  • Multiple color choices
  • Two 5V/2A USB ports
  • 1.2 Meter drop tested to military standards

Cons

  • Still need to bring your own Lightning cable

Final Verdict

If you need power on the go, the Mini External Battery Backup Charger from LAX Gadgets delivers 10,000 mAh.
