Review: Compact Charger for Apple Watch Makes Travel Easy

The folks at Standzout have come up with a clever gadget for charging your Apple Watch. The Helix ($19.99) The compact device lets you wrap the official Apple Watch charging cable (not included) around the inside, accommodating a USB-to-wall-outlet adapter (also not included) so you end up with a clean, apparently wireless charging plug. The benefit is that you can just plug it in to a wall outlet, ideally at desk height or higher, and place your Apple Watch on the magnetic surface, and you're good to go.

Speaking of good to go, I can see this being useful for travel, so your cable doesn't get tangled. No wonder Standzout's tagline is "Accessories that move you." The company even offers the Helix in glow in the dark, as well as clear, black, or white. Normally $29.99, it's marked down to a more reasonable $19.99.

Pros

  • Clever concept
  • Available in glow in the dark, as well as clear, black, or white
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Does not include the Apple charging cable
  • Works best with outlets at desk height or higher
  • Does not accommodate Nightstand Mode

Final Verdict

The Helix from Standzout is a convenient way to plug your Apple Watch in to a wall outlet without worrying about tangled cables.
