Review: Backbone Case Offers Qi Wireless Charging for iPhone 6s

Backbone Case Offers Qi Wireless Charging for iPhone 6s

Longtime readers of my articles know that I believe wireless charging is the future. And I believe that the Qi standard is the wireless charging standard of the future. However, until Apple delivers, we have to find third-party Qi wireless charging options for the iPhone. Dog & Bone is one such vendor that makes a unique Qi wireless charging case for the iPhone 6 and 6s. The Backbone iPhone 6s/6 Wireless Charging Case + Pad ($109.95) differs from other cases in a few distinct ways. The Qi component can be swapped out and you can swap in a Qi-enabled battery. This would allow you to have an endless supply of battery power, without even removing your iPhone from its case.

I like that you can charge via microUSB or Qi, or you can quickly and easily remove the Qi components to charge or sync with the Lightning cable. And while the case does add noticeable length and some thickness when compared to compact cases, it's still one of the most minimal battery and wireless charging cases I've seen.

Pros

  • Wireless Charging that complies with Qi standard
  • Optional 1500Ah swappable batteries
  • Charge via microUSB or Qi
  • Remove Qi components to charge or sync with the Lightning cable

Cons

  • Adds length and some thickness compared to other more compact cases
  • Expensive

Final Verdict

If you want to adopt Qi Wireless charging for your iPhone, Dog & Bone should be high on your list.
