Review: A High Fashion Apple Watch Band without the High Price

Apple has a history of bringing luxury to the masses. A luxury watch used to cost thousands of dollars, and sure, with specific materials and straps, an Apple Watch can extend into that price range, but the same watch with aluminum and a silicone strap is available to almost any potential customer. If you want the higher-end look for your less expensive Apple Watch, you can get it with the Hermes Style Leather Apple Watch Band ($34.99) from SupWatch , who gave me the band to try. The casual observer might not be able to tell it apart from the higher-end version.

Speaking of casual observers, at first I wasn't sure I was interested in the watch band. After all, if it's just a leather watch band, I've seen that before. But this has a butterfly clasp which is hidden underneath the band. This means it looks like a traditional band, with holes for adjusting the size, but you don't have to deal with the hole and pin every time you put the watch on or take it off. The butterfly clasp is a superior way to clamp your watch on and take it off, often found in luxury watches. They have several leather straps, some with the butterfly clasp, others without, so the hard part is choosing which one.

Pros

  • Looks like the much more expensive Hermes strap
  • Available for 38/40 mm and 42/44 mm size Apple Watches
  • Hidden butterfly strap
  • Additional assorted color and style choices

Cons

  • Hard to choose a strap!
  • Leather, so not for use in water

Final Verdict

While Apple has been moving upscale lately with expensive gear like the HomePod and Mac Pro, it's nice to see you can get the latest smartwatch technology and still accessorize it at a fair price.
