The iOS 16 Health App Features That Will Save Lives

Apple is adding Medications, a Health-app feature that will help users keep tabs on their medications, including potential interactions.

If you take prescription medications, you know the struggle. It's way too easy to forget to take your pills or call in a refill to the pharmacy. Apple is here to help with the new medication-tracking features coming with iOS 16.

The Medications feature allows users to track their prescriptions, vitamins, and supplements by creating medication lists, schedules, and reminders. You'll even be able to enter medications by scanning your pill-bottle labels if you live in the United States (a feature that will expand to other countries in the future).

What's more, you'll receive alerts if there's a potential interaction between medications or substances like alcohol. You'll also be able to invite family and friends to share their Health data with you or accept an invitation to share your data with others. Sharing Health app data with medical professionals will be easier than ever before, as well, because iOS 16 allows users to create a PDF of Health records from connected health care providers.
