How to Delete Unearned Steps from Your Apple Watch Activity App

While wearing your Apple Watch, you'll notice arm movements during activities like knitting, playing games, or even just waving will register as steps. Here's how to delete steps from your Apple Watch, which will erase the data and reset your step count closer to the correct number. You can't do this from your Apple Watch; you'll have to use the Health app on your iPhone.

To do correct your Apple Watch step count:

  1. Open the Health app. Tap the Today tab in the lower left corner.
  2. Tap the Steps box to open the steps tracking page.

  3. Tap Show All Data. This opens the All Recorded Data page and you'll see a list of dates with logged steps.
  4. Tap the date of the steps count you want to edit.

  5. Now you'll see a timesheet of the steps, including icons to show if those steps were registered from your iPhone or Apple Watch. You can tap on each entry to see a more detailed timesheet, which may help you select which logged entries to erase. 
  6. When you know which entry or entries you want to delete, tap Edit. Swipe left on the entries and tap Delete to erase those steps from your step count.

  7. Tap Done.
  8. Now when you open the Today tab on the Health app, you'll see the step count has been corrected.

Now you can delete erroneous data from your Apple Watch and have a more accurate step count!
