Apple TV Orders Begin Monday, October 26

Tim Cook sat down at the WSJDlive conference last night to speak with Wall Street Journal editor Gerry Baker. They spoke on a variety of topics from the Apple Car and Apple Watch sales to retail in China and customer privacy. In the interview, Cook announced that the new Apple TV will be available to order Monday, October 26, with shipments of the device beginning the end of that week.

During the interview, Tim Cook explained how he sees the Apple TV as a foundation for fixing our “broken” means of watching TV. He spoke of the current method wherein channels are presented linearly, while Apple TV allows stations such as HBO to sell content directly to its customers throughh Apple TV apps.

You may recall Apple’s September 9 Keynote event when Cook announced the new Apple TV. He did not give a release date at that time. The new Apple TV will include a remote with glass touch surface and will allow you to interact with Siri via listening, responding, and voice commands. The new device is expected to support cross-device gaming and will, of course, provide access to movies, television, apps, and music. Apple TV will also run on a new operating system called TVos.

As stated, the Apple TV will begin sales on Monday, October 26 with shipments starting end of week. The 32 GB model will sell for $149 and the 64 GB model for $199.
