Apple to Open Store in World Trade Center

Apple is one of the largest companies in the world, so it makes sense that one of its next new retail stores will be in the World Trade Center in Manhattan. It's also a fitting statement as America's premier company launches a presence in arguably America's premier location.

I live in Upstate New York, but travel to New York City frequently. In fact, when I worked for Sun Microsystems, on occasion I would teach classes in the Twin Towers, where Sun had an office, and I did so as recently as June of 2001. I am proud to see the resurgence of the area and the new tower.

Given the foot traffic, especially during the work day, this new Apple Retail Store could rival its Grand Central Terminal, Fifth Avenue, or Upper West Side locations. Technically, the store will be located beneath the "Oculus" which is about a block away from One World Trade Center. It will be interesting to see the architectural choices that Apple makes.
