As Phil Schiller said today, the 8.9-inch-sized iPad, as with the original iPad and iPad Air line, is Apple's most popular iPad size. By bringing the features of the iPad Pro down to that form factor, more users can acquire these capabilities. The new iPad Pro also recognizes the ambient light using a feature dubbed True Tone that makes the colors different based on the environment.

The new iPad Pro uses the A9X CPU with M9 co-processor, which allows it to support always-on "Hey Siri" mode. There's a smaller Smart Keyboard to accommodate the smaller iPad Pro. As with the larger iPad Pro, there is palm-detection software to distinguish between your hand and the Apple Pencil.

The higher quality 12MP camera could be helpful for Augmented Reality apps and document scanning. It can record 4K video and makes for a great platform to record and edit video. Even the front-facing camera offers 5 megapixels of resolution. The price is $599 for a 3 2GB model and Apple even has a 256 GB model for $899, the largest capacity ever made available for an iOS device. Orders can be placed March 24 with delivery on March 31.
