AutoRingtone PRO TEXT to SPEECH RINGTONES

myCharge does it all... iPad, iPhone, Android, and does it in style, and talks too!

I've used a variety of external battery packs over the years, but none have met all of my needs, until now. The Peak from myCharge packs plenty of power, with up to 6000mAh but what really helps is the built-in 30pin Apple PLUS microUSB connectors, and an on-board USB port. And most importantly, that 30pin cable provides enough juice to power an iPad. This means you don't have to worry about lost cables, and you can be charging up to three devices at a time. The other bonus is fold out wall prongs to recharge the Peak.

Revolutions: A look back at Apple, Steve Jobs and their role in my life

image

UPDATE: With the passing of Steve Jobs, I wanted to update this posting.  Without Steve Jobs, I guarantee my career and life would have taken a different path and I am far better off for his being in the world, albeit for just 56 years.

A reader reminded me that my 100th blog posting was coming up, so rather than just write about another app or accessory, I thought I'd take a moment to reflect upon how I got here and the role Apple and Steve Jobs played in my life.  As Yogi Berra said, when you see a fork in the road, TAKE IT!  There are many twists and turns that led each of us to the path we are on today so indulge me as I reflect on my path.

The Big App Show takes Adam Curry from VeeJay to AppJay

image

Imagine my surprise to get an email from Adam Curry, the guy I watched in the '80s introducing music videos to the world via the just-launched MTV channel.  Over the years, Adam has embraced change, becoming one of the first celebrities to launch a website and a podcast.  More recently, Curry launched The Big App Show, a free app that highlights one app a day.  Originally, The Big App Show was strictly for the iPhone but he has just added Android apps.  Adam demos the apps in a unique way, by superimposing himself, green screen style, over the live screencast, in portrait mode, suitable for viewing directly on the iPhone.

ZOMM Wireless Leash and Bluetooth Speaker keeps your hands free and phone from getting lost

Of all the gadgets I get to test, I was anticipating the ZOMM (http://www.ZOMM.com) more than any other.  I have attended press briefings at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas for a couple of decades, and the past two years, ZOMM was demonstrating their prototype but now it is finally shipping!

CES: Not all gadgets use batteries

Some of the most interesting items at CES don't use electricity.  We found several accessories that enhance the electronic lifestyle, while made entirely out of non-technical materials.

AutoRingtone PRO, on sale for $0.99, uses speech synthesis; AutoRingtone MUSICAL currently free

image

Our blogger Todd Bernhard has a number of ringtone-creation apps that are pretty neat and that let you do some creative things to make customized ringtones for individual callers. His new app, AutoRingtone PRO TEXT to SPEECH RINGTONES, lets you use speech synthesis to have your iPhone announce your caller by name — or some sort of clever nickname. For example, I created a ringtone for my tennis partner, Bruce. I selected a chime from the 100 introductory sound effects, and then selected a British male synthesized voice.
