I love it when Piel Frama comes up with a new case. They always use the best quality leather and offer a wide variety of colors and finishes. Admittedly, their Wallet Case ($100) is more suited for the purse-carrying crowd, as it is too bulky for my pocket. But I can see how great a case it could be. It has four slots for credit cards and IDs, plus a clear insert for photos, business cards, receipts, coupons, etc. A flap separates those items from the iPhone itself, which is ensconced in a form-fitting enclosure.

Ever since Apple introduced the Apple TV without calling it iTV, I have expected them to drop the "i" prefix on all products. The "i" has been abused, commandeered, and mocked so much that it has become meaningless and even a bit of an albatross. Does it stand for "Internet"? because everything is connected now and that isn't needed. When Steve Jobs returned to Apple, he was dubbed the "iCEO" where the "i" stood for interim. That became permanent of course. Even years after his passing, his office at Apple remains untouched.

The great thing about Android is that there are so many choices. The bad thing about Android is that there are so many choices. In the iPhone world, you decide the size of the phone, then the color, then the storage. But there aren't that many decisions to make (unlike the 54 combinations of the Apple Watch!) Android has literally thousands of different handsets from dozens of different manufacturers. The decision process can be overwhelming.

The Apple Watch has been out for about seven weeks and already Apple has a new version of the operating system available for developers. At WWDC, Tim Cook and company ran through some statistics and the growth is impressive. Here are some of the numbers, as reported by analytics firm App Annie.

Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior VP of Marketing, normally plays a key role in Apple Keynotes, but this year's WWDC had very little in the way of hardware, so he sat in the front row, enjoying his birthday with one less responsibility. Had an Apple TV been announced, he likely would have been the one to introduce it. But Schiller did take the time to chat with John Gruber of Daring Fireball.

At January's CES, the iPhone Life team was impressed with the Petcube ($199). So much in fact that we gave it one of our Best of Show awards. The Petcube lets you check in on your dog or cat (or other pet) remotely. Recently, I had the opportunity to try the Petcube in my home, with my own puppy and I can say the award was well-deserved. In fact, the PetCube is on sale now for $169, making it an even better deal than when we first awarded them that honor.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is less than two weeks away, but Google's is just ending. They made a lot of announcements and some of them will have an impact on the iOS world. Here are some of the most important and relevant items, in addition to fingerprint-based authentication and Android Pay which we covered earlier.

I had the opportunity to try PicoPro ($379.99). Celluon loaned me the pint-sized projector, along with the necessary cables to connect to an iPhone. The projector is as thin as an iPhone in a rugged case, maybe thinner, and could easily fit in a jacket pocket, which makes the PicoPro an ideal projector for road warriors.
