Top Gun for iPhone and Touch Released!

Top Gun, a new aerial combat shooter based on the hit Movie was recently released by Paramount Digital Entertainment (developer Freeverse). This is just my first impressions of the game, and you can get it now for a $1.99, and I think it's worth the 2 bucks. I'll circle round to do a full review later, but it's pretty cool. Fans of the movie might like it for the somewhat cliche and campy briefing/de-briefing scenes, and mobile gamers for the nicely rendered graphics and control.

I've only played the first few missions, but I'm already getting hooked on it. The music is great, and I had a full-on flashback when I heard the theme music wind up. I would have liked to be able to take-off and land on the carrier instead of watching a third-person animation of it, but the game is easy enough for a complete gaming novice to handle. The action is pretty lively, but more arcade-like than a true simulator type game. You mostly avoid "Danger Zone" blocks on the screen, whilst firing missiles at your opponents when you achieve radar lock. If you are looking for a true-to-life flight sim, combat-style game, this probably isn't what you are looking for. The game is supported on iPhone and touch and requires the 2.2.1 software update. Go grab it while it's still a mere $1.99...
