Review: Kensington PowerBolt Micro Charger

This is a pretty neat little car charger if you want to charge your devices while on the go. Best of all it chargers a multitude of idevices (as you can see below) including the iPad and the new iPhone 4. I think that adds value.

In my test, I used my iPod Touch and iPad. I had no issues providing power to them from my car. With the purchase, you get the micro plug and a black cable. The cable looks and feels heavy duty, thicker than the standard cable that comes from Apple. I did compare the length of this to my Apple cable, and it’s a little over 6 inches shorter. I am not sure if that really matters to anyone but I figured I would share that. The cable was long enough for me to set the iPad on my passenger seat. I also used my iPad from the drivers’ seat (while I was not driving).

In my car, I have the cigarette lighter and then a power plug right under that. I did have a hard time removing the micro plug from the cigarette lighter, due to where/how Hyundai placed it. It was a tight fit with the fingers. There were no issues in the power plug right under that because there was more open space. While this is not a problem of the actual device, it’s suggestion to see if your power location would be a potential problem for you.

This charger/cable also does not take up a lot of room, should you want to take it with you when you travel, if you are going to have a rental car. So, if you are in need of a car charger for one of your devices, take a look at the below link. I think you would be very satisified with this unit.
