iPad 2 news: long lines, choosing a data plan, moving your data plan to your new iPad

I want one, of course. I called the Apple Store in Des Moines yesterday to see if they had any iPad 2s in stock. They said that they had a small number come in that morning — but that there were 100 people waiting in line when they opened the store. Those new iPads sold out fast. If, like me, you're in the market for one, it's a challenge to decide between AT&T and Verizon data plans, other things being equal. And also to decide whether the cheapest route, if you have both an iPhone and and iPad, is to pay the additional $20 /month for the Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone rather than signing up for an iPad data plan. Two great articles help you sort this out. TidBITS has an article looking at the relative costs of AT&T, Verizon, and mobile hotspot, and helps you decide which is best for you. And CNNMoney helps you decide between Verizon and AT&T. Also, Macworld tells you how to move your old iPad data plan to your new iPad.
