Digg — top social media site releases free app

Digg is probably the most popular social media site — certainly my favorite. You probably know that it's the readers themselves who post all the wild and wacky and newsy items, and then vote which ones they like. The most popular ones rise to the top, and not only are entertaining but give a glimpse of the current zeitgeist.

Their new Digg iPhone app, released this week, has taken off like a storm, vaulting to the number one news app worldwide, according to a post on Mashable. You can read a full review on iSmashPhone. The app lets you browse top stories the past 24 hours, preview a story, save a story, read and vote on comments, and Digg or bury stories.

By the way, Digg is a great way to keep up with the top iPhone related news. On their website if you click the Technology tab and view the drop-down Window, you'll see that Apple is the first item on the list. Select that, then sort by "Top in 24 Hr," and you'll get mostly iPhone-related news. Click here to see that latest top news, which is, of course, about the Digg app.
