Better than flashcards!
I discovered this app in the Mobile Learning group on Facebook early this morning and had to give it a try.
My early morning is around 4am.
The user experience was fun but some of the quizzes took awhile to download but then I'm not very patient before my second cup of coffee. The questions were easy to answer even though the quizzes I took were challenging. Many of the quizzes used photographs which undoubtedly added to download time but made experience more interesting. Overall I'd say the experience was like playing Trivial Pursuit without the competition.
There are currently over 2,500 topics to select from and the number is increasing daily because users can add to their own quizzes to the database. This means teachers can write practice quizzes for their students. How cool is that?
Creating is quiz is easy. All you have to do is go out to Quipper's website and enter your questions. Your students will be studying on their smartphones faster than you can say "Quipper Quiz"!
Quipper Limited's mission is "to gather and distribute knowledge to a worldwide community of learners through mobile e-learning." I believe they are well on their way!
Quipper Quiz is a free app available for iOS and Android devices. iPhone users will find it in the Education section of the iTunes App Store. It is only 7.1MB in size and has a 4+ rating. It is available in English, French, German, and Spanish. The current version is 5.5.8 and was last updated on August 23, 2012.
