Game Centered: Vainglory Wins Prestigious 2015 Apple Design Award

Vainglory (free) has been sending shock waves through the gaming world ever since it was revealed on stage at Apple's iPhone 6 event in September 2014. Before it was even released, core gamers everywhere had taken notice of this amazing game, one of the first to bring a genuine and unapologetically core gaming experience to iOS. But I suspect it would've been difficult for the Vainglory devs to fully anticipate the tremendous reception their game would receive. In less than a year since its global public release, Vainglory has taken the international gaming community by storm. Now, following much critical acclaim, impressive download rates and even an ESL-sanctioned and sponsored international championship, the praise continues, most recently in the form of the highly-coveted Apple Design Awards which were announced at this week's WWDC conference.

Congratulations to Vainglory, Winner of the 2015 Apple Design Awards

If you are a fan of core gaming then you've likely already heard of Vainglory. It is the premier MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) perfected for touchscreens. With complex, fast-paced gameplay filled with strategy and action, Vainglory has elevated the level of competitive play possible on iOS, and in so doing, it has squashed the old argument that the mobie platform isn't capable of producing games as robust or gaming experiences as fulfilling as PCs or consoles.

Vainglory is an addictive game (I've logged hundreds of hours and over 500 wins and still can't get enough) and with each update the developers bring refreshing and exciting new elements to the game, like the much demanded spectator mode, as well as custom skins for the game's heroes. Having had the pleasure of getting to know some of the developers behind Vainglory as a result of my iPhone Life iOS game coverage, I can say that they are an extremely dedicated and passionate team, comprised of some of the most talented developers in the gaming industry. They are certainly well deserving of Apple's honor and I look forward to seeing how the team continues to raise the bar in terms of what is possible when it comes to the core gaming experience on the mobile platform.

We are witnessing a revolution in modern gaming as mobile rises as the dominant gaming platform that everyone has with them at all times, and Vainglory is undoubtedly at the forefront of this gaming revolution. Congratulations to Vainglory on its Apple Design Award; we at iPhone Life Magazine wish you all the best and can't wait to see what the future holds for this game-changing title.
