A no-maintenance aquarium for fun and relaxation

I don’t usually “play” on my iPhone, but once in awhile, I find a “fun” app that gets my attention. MyReef 3D Aquarium is one of those apps.

At one time, I had two aquariums full of fish; but, like a lot of folks, I got tired of taking care of them. Now, with MyReef 3D Aquarium, I own a “salt-water” aquarium that requires no maintenance, and I can take it with me wherever I go!

I can customize my aquarium to suit my likes and dislikes by changing the background scenery and choosing only the fish that I want in it. Currently, there are 14 fish available to choose from, and they come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. The fish are beautiful. The sound effects are realistic. And I don’t have to worry about my fish dying.

What makes this app fun is the interactivity. I can “zoom” in on my fish to see them close up. I can tap on the glass to get their attention (a no-no in a real aquarium) and I can even “feed” my fish. When I tap on the screen, bits of food float down and my fish swarm after it and gobble it all up. How fun is that!

I don’t know how long I will keep it running as it will probably eat my batteries rather quickly. But for an occasional period of relaxation or for showing off the iPhone to my friends, this app will do the trick.

There is a free lite version; however, it’s not as realistic and doesn’t have as many features. This review is based on the $2.99 version.

Visit the RaixGames Web site for more information or to see videos of the app in action.

Disclosure: I received this app free from RaixGames for review purposes.
