Mission iPossible: Scouring the iTunes App Store and Bringing You The Best Of What We Find.

Hi, everyone.  Welcome to my new space here at iPhone Life.  I just wanted to take a minute to let you all know what I am hoping to do in this space.

Some of you may read my main site, Just Another Mobile Monday, and you know that I recently highlighted the free app Most Wanted, which I called the most important app in the iTunes store.  As you might expect, that statement was met with a bit of controversy, with some people agreeing and others offering their own suggestions for apps which they felt were more deserving than this one.

After several of these discussions, I came to find that there are quite a few important, impressive, deserving, and useful applications in the iTunes App Store.  The problem is that this wheat is buried deep beneath the chaf which seems to have risen to the top of the iTunes App Store.  Don't believe me?

An app called iGirl, which is perfectly captured in this screenshot is currently number 5 in the Top 25 Free Apps (the full version is number 6 in the Paid App List).  Even better is Shotgun Free, which is the number 2 app in the Top Free list.  To quote the description in the iTunes App Store, "Just pump your iPhone or iPod Touch back and forth to cock, then jerk your hand up to compensate for the massive recoil.  Lock and load, baby."  And this does not even begin to mention the myriad of simulated drinking and farting apps which have graced both the Top Paid and Top Free lists.  There simply has to be more than this...better than this.  Because if this is all the iTunes App Store has to offer, then we have a real problem with the state of this device.

So, my self imposed mission is to mine deep into the iTunes core, past this upper layer of dreck to the layers of the iTunes App Store which have previously not been touched by human hands (or at least not many).   To try to highlight some of the far more deserving apps, and maybe with your help, elevate some of them into the ranks of the Top Paid or Top Free lists.  We'll get started soon, taking the road less traveled well beyond the Top 25 lists.  in the meantime, if you have suggestions for important, useful, or just plain impressive apps which you would like to see featured in this space, then please leave a comment with the name of the app.  I'll try to include as many of your suggestions as I can.
