LifeProof frē Case is Water/Dust/Dirt/Shock Proof But Not Dock-Proof

LifeProof

I had the opportunity to try LifeProof frē Case ($79.99). LifeProof also makes a more expensive nüüd line which does not use a screen protector yet manages to be waterproof just the same.

I liked that the case is resistant to many things: water, dirt, dust, and drops. Even with all of that protection, the LifeProof case is surprisingly slim. I also liked that it is available in white/gray, blue, purple, red, and pink in addition to basic black. However, there are some tradeoffs with all of this protection. The charging port pretty much only works with the official Apple cable and few others. It certainly doesn't work with most docks, even when I tried the CableJive dock adapter. The switches and buttons can be hard to access, and the Audio port requires a special plug to make it waterproof, but that could easily get lost. They also provide an extension cord because it could be hard to plug in your headphones.
