imageMobileMe is a subscription-based collection of online services and software offered by Apple. The applications that make up MobileMe are Mail, Calendar, Gallery, Contacts, and iDisk. MobileMe saves all your data in the “Cloud,” allowing you to access it from any Internet-connected device and sync information across all your devices. For example, a new appointment entered into your iPhone shows up on your home and work computers automatically. MobileMe can also locate your devices through GPS services, and you can remotely lock or wipe off all data if your device gets stolen. The downside is that it’s costly: $149 per year for the Family Pack membership and $99 for a Basic Membership.

Use MobileMe to sync the data from every wireless device you own.

Set up your iOS device

Once you sign up for MobileMe (me.com) you can set up your iOS device in a few easy steps:

1. Open Settings>Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

2. Tap on Add Account and select MobileMe.

3. Enter your account information and tap on Next.

4. Slide to the ON position any application you want updated (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, or Notes).

5. Tap on Save.

Set up automatic syncing of new data:

1. Open Settings>Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

2. Tap on Fetch New Data.

3. Slide Push to the ON position if you want your device to update you immediately when you have new data.

4. Slide Push to the OFF position if you want to specify when the device should Fetch New Data (Every 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes, Hourly, or Manually). Note that fetching less frequently helps conserve battery power.
