Even though your device can't play every kind of video format, it can play the most common. Here are the specific formats it can play:

• MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in M4V, MP4, and MOV file formats.

• H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in M4V, MP4, and MOV file formats.

• H.264 video, up to 720p, 30 frames per second, with AAC-LC audio up to 160 kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in M4V, MP4, and MOV file formats.

If your video isn’t in one of these formats, here’s how to convert it:

1.  imageOpen iTunes.

2. Open File>Add File to Library…

3. Find the file in your computer and click on Open to bring it into iTunes.

4. In iTunes, click on your file.

5. Open Advanced> Create iPod or iPhone Version, or Create iPad or Apple TV Version. iTunes will create a compatible version and place it next to the non-compatible version.

Use iTunes to convert non-compatible files to work with your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad

Rename files to avoid confusion while syncing

For some reason, iTunes doesn't automatically rename the new converted file, and when you go sync your device, you might not know which file is the compatible one. To rename a media file in iTunes on your Mac or PC, double click on file name and enter the new name.
