One of my favorite apps (and amongst my first reviews here at iphonelife) is getting a major update and is 2 years old now. Rumor has it we will be doing a Star Walk code giveaway (once V5 is approved), and for 24 hours, you can grab some great astronomy/educational apps for a reduced price. Go grab Geo Walk here (free), and Solar Walk here (99 cents)... Stay tuned for the giveaway, and read on for a list of new features coming to SW.
I have played some offbeat games in my day, but Blork has to take the prize as one of the oddest, but also amongst the coolest (at least in terms of concept)! Not over the top on steroids cool, maybe, but understated cool at least! It's currently free in the App Store, so won't cost you a thing to experiment a bit if you want to try something a little different.
Gun Bros is now available on the App store... Looks like another awesome scroller/shooter game for the review queue. Reminds me of one of my current favs called BloodNGuns, which my daughter clued me in on.
SPB has been making great mobile software for years. Their Mobile Shell product probably kept many a die-hard Windows Mobile user from ditching completely when the iPhone came out. They have some great iPhone apps (SPB TV, and SPB Wallet...two of my favs), but they haven't struck me as prolific game producers (see my Quads review here).
If you have a video-capable iPod (or the iPhone), no doubt you are aware of the ability to enjoy movies, and pix on a larger screen, like say your big-screen TV. There are some great docks to do this, but the new Scosche sneakPEEK II accessory is perfect for when all you really want/need is a cable, and even supports High-Def, iPad and most iPhone/iPod (video capable) models!
Sonos is now shipping their new wireless dock, and hopefully I'll get a review unit to try out soon. The dock fits the last piece of their home audio experience into place by letting you stream songs from your iPod or iPhone to your ZonePlayer (see my S5 review here for more info). The dock is currently $119 direct. Read on for the full press release or go here on their web site to learn more about the new dock.
Tap Disc is a a semi-quirky tap game featuring the challenge of rounding up bouncing and flying disks, but with the added twist of having to time and place your taps at just the right moment and screen spot. I warn would-be tappers that this game is not easy to master quickly (IMO), but presents unique, tap-elicious gameplay that is both pleasing to the eye, and engaging enough to keep you coming back for more. Tilt to Live recently got an update that includes Game Center support and Retina-worthy graphics. You can grab the game (if you aren't already an addict) here. To learn more about this addictive and award winning game, see my Top App picks article here... I am loving the sharper game screens even as I write this. Shoot, no new power-ups though..! Well, it's rumored there might be another present in time for X-mas!
If you are looking for a guitar gadget for a friend or mate as a gift, or are a musician yourself and been looking for an easy and secure way to mount your iPhone or touch to your instrument, check out the Guitar Sidekick. Now you can easily attach your iphone or touch, and use all those cool music apps you have installed! I'll probably post up a short review myself, but you can find them here at castiv.com
