Review: Newertechnology NuGuard Silicone Case for iPad

image

This case is made of soft silicone and goes on the iPad fairly easily.  The back has two ergonomically designed grooves. It feels pretty good in the hand and does offer some scratch protection.  But in my opinion, this is where the good things stop.

Review: Cyber Acoustics IC-1000 iPad Case / Cover

image

I have been using the Cyber Acoustics IC-1000 iPad Case and I can say that I am impressed with it. This case may be ideal for a person who especially likes the Apple case style but wants added features. There are a few similarities between the two but it pretty much stops there. Cyber Acoustics took over and added their own spin on it.

Review: NewPCgadgets Smartphone Coasters

image

Here is a neat item that I think you will find interesting. NewPCgadgets created a Smartphone Coaster. It's made of stainless steel and has some nonslip rubber at the base. It has the word "Smartphone Stand" towards the base of it. It's a simple idea but I am finding that it's a very useful product. A lot of us keep our phones flat on the desk, counter, nightstand etc. This allows you to still keep your device in the same spot but now you have it at a very functional viewing angle.

Two of my Most Used iPad Photo Add-ons

image

Here are two photo related things I wanted to share that I really enjoy using with the pad. I also get a lot of use out of these.  Besides using these for some of my personal images, I use it all the time for choosing and editing my blog photos.

The iPad Camera Connection Kit. $29.00

We already know about this as the product is not new, but I use the SD card reader frequently to pull in my images from our camera. I like that I can also delete the images from the memory card then and there after the import (if I want).

Review: Skooba Design Techlife Netbook/iPad Messenger

image

Skooba Design is a company in Rochester NY who designs various types of bags and gear for our computers and other tech. I was recently reading one of their press releases when I stumbled upon a product of theirs called the Techlife Netbook/iPad Messenger.  I contacted them to see if I could test it out and they kindly sent me a loaner review. This bag was just recently introduced and is part of their tech life collection?

Quick Look" mGifts List Manager

image

I was looking for an app for my iPad so I could manage gifts, such as for Christmas. I used to have one for my iPod Touch which was free, but was only basic and only did a few things. I found an app called "mGifts List Manager" that I purchased last week that I wanted to share with you. There are probably others out there that may have more features but I thought this was perfect for me. There is a full feature listing in the itunes page that you can check out at your convenience. There was an update yesterday that made this a universal app. Below are only a few screenshots.

Review Part 2: Kensington PowerBack™ Battery Case with Kickstand and Dock

image

This is part two of my test drive of this unit. The original sneak peak can be found here:

This case reminds me of the old Mophie style battery pack for the iPod Touch, where you slide the device in but the top part of the device stuck out. In this case, it's not as bad as the Mophie design. This case and battery pack is one piece.

Review Part 2: Kensington KeyFolio™ Bluetooth Keyboard and Case for iPad

image

Last week I posted a sneak peak of the Kensington Folio case for iPad.

The setup is pretty straight forward. Slip the iPad inside and secure it with the flap that prevents it from falling out. You just need to place the flap under the back of the iPad. This keeps it from slipping out. Also, mark sure to charge the keyboard with the included mini USB cable.

Halloween Getaway

image

I took a three day getaway to Boston and Salem for the Halloween weekend.  I took this opportunity to really put my iPad to use.  It was very handy and convenient to have in my bag when we were out and about. The only thing that was a real downer was that the hotel wifi was very slow. But besides that, it worked great for downtime and for directions and event info. I did not use it for any work purposes. It worked great with the wifi when I was on the train into Boston on my first day.

Here are a few of the Apps that I have used this weekend as well as on previous visits there.
