iPhone - Music - Teaching

As a life-time educator I am always trying to find ways of having meaningful connections with my students. My iPhone + my weird cardboard speakers get used before class. Anyone can hook up their device to my speakers to play"their" music until class starts. If no one uses their machine then my iPhone collection of tunes gets used, This surprisingly simple action garners a lot of credibility in the classroom. Also my recyclable cardboard speakers have an edgy quality that helps.

It Comes Together

I have been using three devices in my office for some time; iPhone, iHome Center, Wilson signal booster. After a little frustration I realized that with a little office re-arranging I could have all three of my devices live / behave well together. In the past I was using a mix of any two of the above. Sounds simple- it was simple. Why had I not thought about it before... my mental disassociation of electronic communications (bits and bytes) with the "real world" of physical things. A mental blind spot. Now I am running full bars with full volume on a full set of great podcasts. I am full up happy.

Bloomberg Mobile: My Everyday App

Bloomberg Mobile is a free app for the iPhone and iPod Touch bringing you financial information from the world's most trusted source for financial information. This is the only application that I use every day on my iPhone.

iHome iP47: A Dock That's Worth Sailing For

The iHome iP47 has just extended my digital centric iPhone existence. A self-described "Bluetooth Alarm Clock Radio for iPhone / iPod" is sleek and unobtrusive and puts out more than adequate quality sound.

iPhone Voice Recorder- iTalk by Griffin Technologies

Griffin technologies just released a free iPhone App known as iTalk. I love Griffin Technologies. They have always stepped in and produced products that Apple had not yet gotten around to producing, and with the style befitting Cupertino chic.

Wilson Signalboost Gives the Nudge I Needed

AT&T does not have the best signal in my area. To make matters worst my office is at the lowest point in town in a building with a metal roof and sides, in short a giant ferrier cage. Most of the time the signal is only strong enough to ring in.

Whose Device Is It Anyway?

I arrive home to see my college age daughter parked in front of the 42" surround sound time sink. I am out of luck as the squatter has first dibs on the tube. I sit for a bit with my eye being pulled and repelled by some inane reality TV show. I get fed up and defiantly pull out my iPhone and fire up YouTube. I take a check of the "Most Viewed" function and settle into "Whose Line is it Anyway?".
