Truphone flattens the earth!

It's official Truphone has cut rates in half to $12.95 month for it's Truphone Unlimited app http://bit.ly/bMI56K service. Basically this turns my iPad 3G/WIFI into a heavy duty business machine writing reports, scheduling, e-mail, and now very low-cost phone. I don't know how they do it, but they must have been reading Thomas Freedman and realized that the world is flat, and have passed it along to the rest of us.

Get ready for iSchool

Though Apple designed the iPhone, iPod and iPad to be very user friendly and intuitive devices, they do take some adjusting to especially as they move further into roles computers have held - email, word processing, spread sheet, powerpoint, etc and are becoming more common in business, and educational functions.

It's happening in Freeport Maine!

I should have seen this one coming, Freeport (free) is an app designed around good eating, shopping and fun in Freeport, Maine.  This is a good first attempt by the Freeport Merchants Association at touting a variety of attractions in Freeport using a smartphone app.

Cheap cellular and data for your iPhone, iPad and iPod!

It is official, Truphone is amazing and it's cheap, really, really cheap cell phone service!

In a world where jailbreaking and unlocking your iPhone is now a right, you would think carriers would catch on that the world is changing and they should  unshackle us from those chains of service contracts for cellular and data plans.

DIY micro SIM

You know someone at iPhone Life had try making their own micro SIM card so I took the plunge and decided to sacrifice a T-Mobile card I had to give it a try in my iPad 3G.  You can certainly do this with the iPhone, but you’re going to have to jailbreak and unlock it if you want to use a carrier other than AT&T.  The iPad 3G comes unlocked, except in Japan.

Google to create web TV. Yeah right.

I expect innovation, not regurgitation from Google.  While enthusiastic about Google's deal with AdMob finally going through, I'm less than impressed with their new proclamation of partnering with Sony for a Google web TV.  Don't get me wrong, I love Google and Sony, but talk about being late to the party.

Why am I annoyed?  Aside from Google wanting to do things other than what they're really, really good at?

Apple hints at wifi fix

Apple has finally hinted at a wifi fix for the iPad http://bit.ly/cvWaXd despited dragging their feet regarding it being a problem with the iPad. Currently the official fix from Apple is to basically check and reset your router... Hmmm the dozens of wireless systems I've been on over the past month can't all be set up wrong.

Call anyone in the US from anywhere in the world absolutely FREE on your iPad

Do you Whistle (free)?  I guess I'm still a bit tongue tied with my latest VoiP app for the iPad, yes you're hearing me right a VoiP phone for the iPad (and other devices too).

The WhistlePhone Service is interesting for a number of reasons; 1) it designed an app for the iPad, 2) it utilizes an add you have to listen to before each call to make your voip call free in the US, or from anywhere else to the US.

Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité FRANCE 24

Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité are not the only things I love about France, though I deeply connect to these concepts. I remember my time in Paris some years back very fondly, the amazing culture, food & wine and a people who in general seem far more interested and understanding of what is happening in the world than my friends here.
