Give iPhone or Touch the Power of E-mail Groups

image

When I’m using my PC at work, I’m able to quickly open Outlook and call up an e-mail group, for instance to send out a tech-support bulletin to our field sites, or maybe report a bug to our development team. At home, I use mostly Gmail, and also have a few helpful contact groups configured (like for our bloggers), but I have yet to find a way to sync the grouping to my iPod touch.

Bug on my Desktop, Bug on my iPhone. WeatherBug, that is!

As a resident of Texas & someone who is generally interested in watching the weather, I was very happy to see WeatherBug for the iPhone. There are 2 versions available: WeatherBug (FREE) & WeatherBug Elite (.99c). Both are very good apps. I 1st had the free version, then upgraded to the Elite version so I could have ALL of the features.

iPhone 3.0 gives easier access to Wi-Fi hotspots

image

Last year AT&T opened up their national network of Wi-Fi hotspots so that iPhone users could have free access — Starbucks, McDonalds, airports, etc. But accessing these now-free hotspots was cumbersome, involving entering your phone number, receiving a text message, then clicking a link in that message.

iPhone 3.0 Update: Just Hours Away Now

image

The highly anticipated iPhone 3.0 update is just a few hours away according to sources. The expected times are 10 AM Pacific/1 PM Eastern time and will be available via iTunes.

The update is free for all iPhone users. All iPod Touch users will be charged an upgrade fee of $9.99. A worthy update to the platform, the 3.0 update will contain a host of new features and fixes and is the centerpiece to the new iPhone 3G S being released this Friday.

How to get best pricing on your upgrade to the iPhone 3G S

TidBITS has a great article on the eligibility criteria for getting the lowest subsidized price for the new iPhone 3G S. While no one knows all of the criteria, the article explains that it's not simply how long you've had your phone. Another factor, for example, is your account history — and how promptly you pay your bill. Also, the article points out that their system sometimes makes mistakes, and that the only way you can be sure you're getting the lowest possible price is to call AT&T.

Can't download all those cute PPS attachments at work?

image

Do you get a lot of personal email & go through them at work because ... well ... you're there all day? That's fine, but when people send you attachments & especially in the case of PPS files, may or may not contain adult content or high volume, you end up skipping those for the sake of your job.

Toki Tori and Knights Onrush go lite

image

Toki Tori and Knights Onrush are currently two of my favorite Chillingo games, as evidenced by my recent reviews (Toki Tori and Knights Onrush). Understandably, though, at a price point of $4.99 many people are hesitant to take the plunge regardless of glowing reviews. Chillingo has thankfully addressed that problem by providing lite versions of both applications. Here's what they have to say:

My Daily Dose of E!

I thought for my inaugural blog post, I'd share with you my fav app right now.  I wonder if there is an app out there that could decipher a person's personality by loading in their 5 most used apps?  (If there isn't, wouldn't that be cool?  Developers out there take note!)  Then I wonder what personality trait I'm revealing by telling you that I am addicted to E! Online.

Take a photo with your iPhone and automatically send it as a postcard

image

Postcards — how quaint. Yet if you're on some distant shore and you'd like to send a quick photo taken with your iPhone to someone who doesn't have e-mail, HazelMail Postcards is the ticket. The new app, launched yesterday, instantly turns your photo into a personalized postcard, and the prints the card, puts a stamp on it, and mails it for you.

How cool! A Stencil Interface Template for iPhone apps

Just saw this in Gizmodo. How cool is this?  Now, according to Gizmodo, there are only 100 of these, so go get it.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
