Summer - A Good Time for Review

image

Getting a child to review the multiplication tables over the summer is not an easy task. But, a game that your child can do while waiting for appointments or while you shop might make it easier. 24x7digital has developed an app called TimesTables (v. 1.1) for the iPhone or iPod Touch. The challenge is to see how many multiplication problems your child can get right in the fastest amount of time.

Review: Treasures Of Montezuma

image

The reality is that match 3 games - the genre made famous by the game Bejeweled - are currently a dime a dozen in the App Store.  So what does a developer need to do to make their take on the match 3 game stand out from the crowd?  I'd say that taking lessons from Treasures Of Montezuma would be a great start.  I have several of the hotly anticipated iDevice titles that have come out over the past couple of months sitting on my device, yet I find myself continually drawn to playing TOM instead.  To me that speaks to both the addictive nature of the genre and the creativity the designers employed to make TOM a match 3 experience unlike most others on the iDevice.

Game Review of Peggle for iPhone and touch

image

There are few games that can display an eye-rolling status message of “busting rad moves” during the loadup phase of the game and survive to tell about it, but Peggle might be able to get away with it. If one’s tongue stays firmly in one’s cheek while they play, that is. The graphics are cheerily cartoonish, and the gameplay is engaging and fun to match.

iPhone needed on 19th hole

Sitting in the grill room after a nice round of golf (won my match 5 & 3) I heard some guys giving the young lady tending bar a hard time. She didn't know how to make a Long Island Iced Tea, it seems. “If I had an iPhone I could find out,” she said.

I did, but it was in the car and I wasn't going to leave my cold beer to solve this trivial question. As soon as I had it in my hand, though, I was Safaring around for the answer: a Long Island Iced Tea is made of whatever you have behind the bar, apparently - heavy on the vodka, tequila and rum. Not my idea of the perfect post-round refreshment.

If she'd had an iPhone, though, she could have called their bluff, and watched as they drowned their sorrows - charging them big bucks all the while.

Old Fashioned Entertainment Updated!

image

Fireflies is an enjoyable app for both kids and adults alike. To get the maximum effect, I recommend you play with Fireflies in the dark. Reminiscent of childhoods past, you’ll soon be immersed in the sound of crickets chirping their nighttime serenades as you gently reach out to capture the fireflies, flickering in and out between the cattails. This is relaxing entertainment. Your kids will love it, too!

I love books. The problem is I forget which books I have. Consequently, on too many occasions, I’ve bought the same book more than once. But not any more!

Now, I have xLibris by Option-X (v 1.2.1) installed on my iPhone. xLibris is a full-featured book database that sorts my books by title or author. I can easily search my book database while at the bookstore, and no more duplicates!

New Yorker cover painted with iPhone

image

The New Yorker is known for cartoons and great covers -- some of which are saved for years. The cover for the next issue was created like none other before: it was painted on an iPhone. Artist Jorge Colombo drew the street scene, with an iconic hot dog vendor as his focal point, while standing at a street corner, swiping his iPhone's screen.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
