Staying or Getting in Shape Is Easier With The Right Help...or should I say APP.

Getting back in shape, after more years than I'd like to admit, has been a bit daunting and slower than I imagined. But since I always have my iPod Touch with me, I can now track my progress on the fly....track calorie intake and output all with a few taps of my finger. The beauty of having apps available on my device is that I don't have to rely on my memory at the end of the day. I can tally them at the time I am eating or exercising. What's even more helpful is that I can look up food in a restaurant to make smart choices. (did you know that a whole Bloomin' Onion at The Outback is 1,500 calories and 84g of fat?)

Review: Vertex by Calculator Games

image

To its credit, I will say that I don’t think I’ve ever played anything like Vertex on my iPhone before.  Conceptually it’s actually a sound game.  Unfortunately, I really don’t find it all that interesting.  Additionally, the time allotments are crazy and there’s no timer-less mode with any incentive to play it.  I think with some embellishments on the different game play modes there could be something here, but right now it feels more like a highly polished late stage alpha game than a truly marketable product.

App Review - Tipulator

Figuring out the Tip is easy sometimes however, there are times that you need to figure an amount that is not a whole number like 10, 20 or 30%

Shining Force Another SEGA Blast from the Past!

image

I never really got into the whole D&D thing, being too cool for that level of geek immersion (ahem, I might've been a ranger character of moderate EXPs once), but RPGs (role playing game) on computers are old as, well, I am. I have played some of the originals, believe me. The early games were mostly stupid by today's standards, but we loved them anyway. My friend's Dad had an old machine , on which we would play a text-only RPG game for hours (imagine that). The computer spit out a description of the scenery and game action at each move, while we would map out the mazes and dungeons on paper. Pretty arcane, but still loads of fun.

The Ultimate PDF Reader Roundup

image

(Note that a cleaned up and extended, easy-to-digest version of this article – without the lengthy section on the chart – will be published in the iPhone / iPad Buyer's Guide. Go buy it ;-) ).

The iPad offers an excellent way of reading PDF files. While you can do this right in Safari (with web based PDF's) or can freely download Apple's own iBooks, it may be still worth checking out how almost all (!) the currently available PDF reader solutions. Knowing what the alternative PDF readers are capable of is essential as reading online PDF's with Safari lacks any kind of features like in-document searching. In addition, iBooks lacks some essential features too.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
