Apple sells over 1.7 million iPhone 4's in the first three days

image

Steve Jobs is calling it Apple's most successful product launch ever -- 1.7 million iPhone 4's in the first three days. Pretty amazing. That works out to a rate of 7 phones per second. Of course, Apple is having trouble meeting this demand, and is now saying that new orders will take three weeks to ship. You can read a brief report on Macworld, as well as see the press release on Apple's site. I'm expecting mine to arrive tomorrow!

Really enjoy reading on iPhone 4

I actually got an iPhone 4, yesterday, a day early due to some lucky mail fluke. Today I tried FaceTime with blogger Todd Bernhard. Todd will probably write about it here and/or in our next issue. I also used the flash in the camera. I liked both features, although both have a ways to go. However, what I was most impressed with based on what I will get the most use of is the ebook reading experience.

Betting on the iPhone - the odds of iPhone 4's success

UPDATE: And the correct answer is (drum roll please)....Over 1.5 Million! According to an early estimate by Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner. That is amazing.

Bookmaker.com emailed us this today. Thought it was interesting enough to pass on to all of you. I'll try to post an update tomorrow and let you know what the actual number is...

Got the iPhone 4 but I can't use it!

I'm sitting here on hold with AT&T staring at my new iPhone 4 wishing I could use it! Unfortunately in the mayhem and glitches of pre-order day I got assigned a new number rather than having my current iPhone upgraded.  It's now the 5th hour of talking to AT&T. I think I've been on hold for 4 of those hours. This music is driving me crazy, WHY GOD DID SUCH A BEAUTIFUL  PIECE OF HARDWARE HAVE TO BE PARTNERED WITH SUCH TERRIBLE SERVICE!?!?

One of my threats while dealing with the 6 different departments and managers I've been transfered to was that I would write a terrible review of AT&T on our website (unfortunately I didn't take names). But here is it. What are your AT&T horror stories? Post below

CNET article tells you what it will cost you for an iPhone 4 if you're already an iPhone user

image

The crux of the problem is this: a new iPhone model comes out every year, but you have to sign a two-year contract. That means if you're lusting after the latest and greatest, you'll often be locked into your old contract and will have to pay considerably more than the price paid by new customers. If, for example, you want the base model iPhone 4 right away and your contract expires in 2011, it'll cost you $400 rather than $200. But AT&T is making an exception for iPhone users whose contract expires any time this year. You'll be eligible for the $200 price.

iPhone 4 is here -- and gorgeous

Apple has done it again with the iPhone 4. The new retina display is pretty amazing, with 326 pixels per inch and an 800:1 contrast ratio. You can read more about it in this article on Macworld. They also have hands-on article giving their first impressions of this new phone.

Next iPhone revealed!

image

This seems to be the real thing. The back story is that the forthcoming iPhone was found in a bar in Redwood City. It was camouflaged to look like an iPhone 3GS. You can read all about it and see two videos on Gizmodo. If this is true, you have to wonder if the guy who lost it has also by now lost his job at Apple. The new phone has a front-facing camera for video chatting, a camera flash, apparently a 960x640 display, and a second microphone. The back is flat, and the whole thing has a bit more of a square shape. The article says they took it apart and it's the real thing.

HoloToy gives you 3D on your iPhone and iPad

HoloToy ($0.99) offers a surprisingly effective 3D experience on the iPhone and iPad.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
