Because I do. I Tangoed last night. For those of you not in the know, Tango is a new app that let's you make free mobile video calls (facetime). There are three reasons why this is exciting:

1. Tango lets you make video calls using 3g. This means you are no longer tied to wifi to make or receive video calls

2. Tango lets you make calls across platforms. This means that I can facetime with my friends who own android phones. (not that I would want to)

Can you Say it another language?

Language Learning Anywhere, Anytime

In the sea of iPhone applications vying for our attention it’s easy to lose sight. It is also easy to spend countless hours absorbing useless content or information that is getting you nowhere.

I don’t like wasting my time. I am a busy doctor and parent. Hence I am all about combining technology, efficiency, entertainment and education. Recently I have come across a language learning platform called Babbel. Babbel has just released a new iPhone app that includes speech recognition, allowing you to speak words, just learnt, out loud to check if your pronunciation is in sync with a native speaker’s. But let’s start at the beginning.

C-Section Comics recently posted this cartoon on smartphone users. I thought it was worth sharing.

If you want to make your fancy new iPod or iPhone do something attractive and relaxing while docked (maybe to keep the screen from locking), you might check out iQuarium. The free version includes new updates for Retina graphics, AI improvements, and stability tweaks. The app is currently at 3 stars, and has taken some heat for not loading the fish for previous free users. Check it out here...

Problem Solved!

image

I use my iPod Touch for all my media listening. I listen to podcasts all the time....more than I listen to music. I listen when I am driving, exercising, working outside, waiting for my wife while she is shopping.....like I said, all the time. My biggest frustration with every set of earbuds I tried, was that every time I took them out to talk with someone, all I could do was hold them in my hand or stuff them in my pocket. I would also have to pull out my iPod and pause it.

Review: Aqua Pearls by G5 Entertainment

image

There are certain genres that seem to remain fun even though each new game in the genre isn’t necessarily that different from the last.  Time management games are one such anomaly, and so to, it seems, are “marble poppers”.  Granted there have been some that weren’t quite as engaging as others, but there’s something about the whole concept of trying to whittle away a string of objects before it reaches its destination that’s simple yet challenging, and ultimately enjoyable.  Aqua Pearls is no exception to this rule, and what sets it apart from many of the others I’ve played are some new game modes as well as the general atmosphere of the game.

Free Blork is Wacky Sleepwalking Fun!

image

I have played some offbeat games in my day, but Blork has to take the prize as one of the oddest, but also amongst the coolest (at least in terms of concept)! Not over the top on steroids cool, maybe, but understated cool at least! It's currently free in the App Store, so won't cost you a thing to experiment a bit if you want to try something a little different.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
