Kids Say the Darndest Things…To Siri!

I’ve been seeing so many articles out there on the great big web about how people are interacting with Siri. Some of it’s quite surprising! Can you guys believe that there are some ladies who are actually jealous of the interaction between Siri and their significant others?

It’s completely true, I saw it on a message board.

This is certainly not true of my wife, however. She has her own Siri, and the two of them chat it up all day long. My wife is too busy to notice the little affair Siri and I are having...

NewsQuakes - Get the latest earthquake news in your neighborhood or around the world

I love living in California, but I am always waiting for the next 'big one'.

The app, NewsQuakes, will not predict this, but it will show you the latest quakes in your area. You can see earthquakes that have happened in past day, hour or week. You can see these listed in detail or by push pins on a map. It also includes volcano alerts from around the world.

It has a wealth of interesting video and audio clips from USGS, along with a calendar of upcoming lectures on related subjects in California.

The interface of this app is very smooth and appealing. It works on both the iPhone and the iPad. The iPad app is a full screen version.

For just 99 cents, it is definitely worth adding to your collection.

More SiriProxy: Using Siri to control a TV

The momentum for SiriProxy continues to build. Please, Apple, don't clamp down. The latest instance is using Siri to control a TV via the Plex platform. Plex is software that runs on some TVs as well as desktop computers and that lets you access and control local and online content. You can read more on TiPb. The video demo below is impressive and clearly shows the potential that Siri has unleashed.

ID case for your iPhone: The Callet

If you like the silicon rubber iPhone case, you need to check out the Callet. Not only does it give you the same tight grip, but this case incorporates two credit card pockets on the back for convenience. Great for clubbing and sports activities where you need your ID and phone, but nothing else.

Comes in blue, pink and white. Check it out on the Callet website.

More evidence for a 4-inch iPhone in 2012; Sharp to make iPad 3 displays

According to AppleInsider, a Japanese website is claiming that Hitachi and Sony have actually begun shipments of 4-inch LCD displays, presumably for the iPhone 5 expected next year. This is in line with other rumors that have been circulating for months.

iPhone Life Weekly Weekend Giveaways! 11/25

Every weekend we will be raffling off tons of great apps and accessories for FREE. Here's how it works:

What I played - Gobble edition!

Welcome to the Thanksgiving edition of my somewhat-weekly column featuring the games, apps or even gadgets I played with during the week. It's not always strictly iOS related, as last week (or was it the week before?) I reviewed the HP TouchPad, though a couple of the apps mentioned also have iOS versions. This week, it's all iPhone/iPod/iPad and all free, so if you want to get some game on this turkey day weekend, it won't cost you a cent. Bowmaster Lite brings you the thrill of the early pilgrims, who couldn't go to the supermarket to bag a turkey. Chromian Wars is a new war strategy sim game with AR features. My fav of the bunch has to be Falling Stars--quickly make funky tones/beats with this addictive and free music maker game.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
