Wear your iPhone on your sleeve (Part 2)

image

In Part 1, I wrote about the ActiveSLEEVE, an accessory that lets you wear your iPhone on your arm.  It's a great gadget, but what if you want to access the touchscreen while the device is 'at hand'?  Or what if it's colder weather and you need a jacket.  Enter the WEARCOM SOMA-1 from Alphyn Industries.  The SOMA-1 Wearcom pullover is a remarkably well-made jacket that just so happens to have a flip-open velcro covered capacitive-touchscreen-friendly pocket on the forearm.  Even if you don't use the gadget pocket, this quality garment could be your everyday jacket.

Wear your iPhone on your sleeve... literally!

image

In the current 'How To' issue of iPhone Life Magazine, I wrote a column entitled 'How to get a grip on your iPad'.  As a follow-up, i will be recommending options to wear your iPhone (or iPod touch) on your sleeve, literally!  My iPhone is almost always attached to my belt, via a belt clip and case.  But there are times when you want your iPhone more 'at hand.'  If you're jogging, especially in the summer, you may not have a belt and might want your iDevice on your wrist or arm so you can listen to tunes.

The Toddy Cloth - A wonderful gift!

image

Personally, I cut up a microfiber cloth, which I buy at Wal-mart, to use on my iPad and iPhone. But, I certainly wouldn’t give that as a gift.

If you’re looking for a gift, check out the Toddy Smart Cloth. Anyone with an iPad or other electronic devices will appreciate it as being functional as well as very nice looking!

Review: Finger Raider by Nemo Games

image

As I’ve grown to have less time for playing games, I’ve come to appreciate the simpler things in entertainment.  For example, I’m just as content playing a quick dungeon crawler like Sword Of Fargoal now as I was playing a sprawling RPG like Might & Magic when I was in high school.  However, despite the fact that I’ve seen on many occasions where simple can be fun, simple doesn’t always mean fun.  Sadly, Finger Runner is the perfect example of this.  I think the concept is sound, but the execution is frustrating more than anything.

Stardunk Gold FREE for a limited time!

image

Stardunk Gold version (no ads--normally $1.99) went free on Thursday, and has apparently stayed that way (possibly through the weekend), so go grab it while it lasts. The Space Jam-esque MMO game has gone through several noteworthy upgrades and improvements of late, and the developer is keen on getting it out there, so what are you waiting for...??? It's FREE!

New Cool iPig delivers superb sound!

image

At CES this year, I got the grand tour of Speakal's latest sound docks. Most were not available at that time for review, but I finally was able to get a new "Cool iPig" to try out. The CiP is a small speaker dock (obviously done up in a pig motif) that includes motion-sensing technology. For a small speaker system, the unit pumps out good quality sound, and includes a rechargable battery. You need to be careful with your motions however, lest you inadvertedly blast your eardrums by moving too near the volume up control.

Review: Incase Origami Workstation

image

If you use your Apple Wireless keyboard with your device, this accessory may be of interest to you. The Incase Origami Workstation is a combination case and stand. This case was “Inspired by the Japanese art of paper-folding” and “provides complete protection for your Apple Wireless Keyboard.”

The case itself is pretty light and does not really add any bulk. The material reminds of me of the Official Apple iPad (1) Case, but not as soft. It also gets dirty but cleans off pretty easy.

Despite claims to the contrary, white iPhone not thicker

image

When the white iPhone first came out, quite a number of sites, such as Engadget, reported that was a tiny bit thicker and that some cases might not fit. But then Apple said that this assertion was false.

Monster Trouble is 3D Tower Defense fun, and make no mistake, this game will suck you into endless hours of grinding gameplay. If you like TD games already, and looking for one with a medieval theme, high-quality rendering and effects, and a bit of campy humor, then this is definitely your game.

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
