The Power of the Force Touch, and Emojis

image

My colleague Jim Karpen has already revealed the rumor that Force Touch may find its way into the next iPhone. But what is Force Touch and why should we care? Apple Watch ambassador Christie Turlington-Burns has been blogging for four weeks now about her use of the Apple Watch in preparing for a marathon. Her latest missive discusses the use of Force Touch as she reveals her family has Apple Watches as well. She can send emoticons from her watch to theirs, and using Force Touch, change the image.

More Rumors that Next iPhone Will Include Force Touch

image

One of the special features of the forthcoming Apple Watch is Force Touch: the device senses the level of pressure of your touch. It can distinguish between a light tap and a firmer press, with the latter triggering a contextual menu. This feature has also now been included in two of Apple's new laptops. And rumors are flying that it will also be in the forthcoming iPhones.

Samsung Boots Management as iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Gain

image

Samsung had an advantage over Apple for years by offering larger phones or "phablets" while Apple stuck with 4-inch iPhones. That changed with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which offer a 4.7-inch or 5.5-inch screen, respectively. Korea-based Samsung is also getting squeezed at the low-end by cheaper Android phones from Xiomi and other Chinese manufacturers.

Find Your Trade-In Alter Ego with NextWorth

image

When it comes to saving money, one popular method is trading in old electronics for cash on sites like NextWorth.com and Gazelle.comBut when it comes to trading in old mobile devices, not everyone is looking for the same thing. Some of us are looking for the fastest payout, while others are looking for the best deal. To help, NextWorth created an entertaining infographic that will take readers through a flowchart for determining which popular TV character they're most like for trading in old devices, and thus what route they should take next time when trading in.

Who is your NextWorth Alter Ego?

Power Your Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Car with Cyntur’s JumperPack Mini

image

They say you can never have too much money. I don't know if that's true. Shakespeare had King Richard shouting "A horse, a horse! My kingdom for a horse!" I don't ride a horse, but I do have a couple of old convertibles that have had the battery die on occassion, so I can relate. All the money in the world won't help you if your car and phone batteries are dead and nobody is around to help. That's why I was very excited to see the JumperPack mini from Cyntur.

Repeated Rumors of 4-Inch iPhone 6c Now Include Leaked Rear Casing

image

The next generation of iPhones is likely less than six months away, and it's high time we start getting some serious rumors. One that keeps popping up is that Apple is going to come out with a new four-inch iPhone, the iPhone 6c.

Apple Taking Trade-Ins of Non-Apple Phones

image

Apple has been trying to increase sales of iPhones at their retail stores, versus third party locations like BestBuy, Sprint, etc. In addition to higher profit margins by selling directly, Apple stores can upsell consumers on the benefits of owning Apple computers in addition to iPhones. One area where other retailers had an advantage was the ability to take in competing phones and offer credit.

iRig 2 Review: A Guitar Rig That Turns the iPhone into a Portable Studio!

image

IK Multimedia made the iRig 2 ($39.99) product available last week and sent us a review unit to test out. The iRig is a guitar interface that allows you to process signals from any electric guitar and listen to the output on your headphones. It now can send signal out to an amp or PA. I tested the iRig with several of my guitars running into a Line 6 Flextone and a Roland guitar amp, as well as with headphones. I also tested it up against the iRig Pro HD model, and have to say it performed nearly on a par with the fancier iRig model!

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
