Big Boost in Batteries, But Only for Calculators

image

We love our iPhones, and soon, our Apple Watches, but the biggest complaint with such devices is battery life. As these gadgets get smarter, bigger, and faster, the battery life has remained fairly constant. That means battery technology is improving, but only at a pace that matches the power-hungry new features. That accomplishment is, and should be, considered remarkable. But it's not enough. The Apple Watch is rumored to get between 2.5 to 4 hours of heavy use or 19 hours of light use. Can't we do better?

Blue Microphones' Mo-Fi Headphones: Taking Hi-Fi to the Next Level

image

I've been hearing a good deal of positive feedback from my peers in the tech press about the Blue Microphones' Mo-Fi headphones ($349.98), so I was eager to spend some time sampling the audio performance and comfort that these oddly designed headphones offered. What I discovered was a pair of high-end, superior-quality headphones that manage to set themselves apart from a crowded field in a number of unique and distinguishing ways.

Android Phones Have Apple's Fingerprints All Over Them

image

Everyone knows that Samsung and Google "took" some features from iOS and the iPhone and Apple did the opposite as well. It happens all the time, in every industry. While Apple resorted to help from the courts at times, it appears that the company learned the real lesson. If you don't want your technology to end up in a competitor's product, buy the technology outright. That's what they did with their fingerprint sensor, which has been head and shoulders above the competition, so far.

Is Your iPhone Not Gold Enough?

image

Are you among the "Gold is Best" crowd? When Apple launched the gold iPhone 5s, did you scour the web and retailers in your area to find your own "golden ticket?" If you prefer gold but think the Apple version is too "champagne" for you and not gold enough, there is another option. As long as you don't mind spending $3,000 or more!

CES: Stands That Deliver

image

The iPad introduced a new way to interface with our computers. Before tablets, our computers could rest on a desk, table, or lap. As iPads became thinner and thinner, they still put a strain on your hands when held for prolonged periods. This has caused an array of accessory makers to develop innovate stands for tablets and smartphones.  This year, at the Consumer Electronics Show, there were several notable stands on display.

Put Your Mark on Photos with iWatermark+

image

The primary reason you should graphically (or not so graphically if using steganographic tags) tag your photos is to add some identifying mark on them, or even just add context. With iWatermark+ ($3.99) you can add a copyright, a custom icon, a logo, or even embed hidden steganographic data in your photos. You could also simply share your email, a uniform resource locator, or QR Codes (with links to either) from within your images. The latest version also allows you to watermark your videos.

CES 2015: The Best iOS-Compatible Drones

image

Drones, drones and more drones. Pardon the pun, but drones were all the buzz at this year's CES. Along with the iPhone-Life-award-winning, high-end, HEXO + drone ($1,149.00), and the ultra portable and more affordable ZANO drone (approximately $200.00), which received honorable mention and which you can read more about here, CES also featured several other excellent entries in the iOS-controlled drone category. Even though CES has come and gone, the excitement over the plethora of drones exhibited on the CES show floor lingers on.

FaceTime Shock and This Mortal Coil

Everything iPhone - Apps, Accessories, Reviews, Wallpapers etc | iPhone Life Magazine

The iPhone has become a benchmark for all other smartphones to compete with.  Reviews on the cases, accessories, apps, wallpapers and more are located below.  Here are a couple of Articles that showcase what we have to offer.  For eaxample, iPhone 4S by Alex Cequea (iPhone Life Magazine Editor in Chief).

In that article, Alex says that the iPhone 4S has the exact same physical form factor as the iPhone 4. However, the insides are a whole different story, and Apple tried to make that very clear. The most notable improvements are the 8MP camera with 1080p video recording, the A5 dual-core processor (same as the iPad 2), and an improved battery life (8 hours of 3G talk time, 200 hours of standby). As far as the capabilities, the new Siri Assistant feature was the highlight of the show. The Siri Assistant recognizes natural language and can answer questions such as, "What's the temperature out today?" Combined with the phone's GPS, you can say something like, "Remind me to call my wife when I get to work." The Assistant will not only know who your "wife" is, it'll also know where "work" is and pop up a reminder to "call Marcy" when you get there."

Here's another great article, The Best iPhone 4 Cases. This article goes on to explain that like its iPhone predecessors, cases have become one of the most popular ways to accessorize your cell phone. Most cell phone consumers buy a case bundled with their new phone to protect it from day one. And who can blame them? Mobile devices have become hugely valuable and expensive items; you want to protect them the best way you can. There are literally hundreds of cases on the market. Let's examine the different options available on the market to help you choose the one that's right for you.

What to know how to create your own app?  "The first step in creating an app is to understand what you want to create and how you will measure its success. Make sure the idea is well vetted and there is a solid business case behind it. There are roughly 600 new apps submitted to Apple each day—what is going to differentiate your app from the thousands that are already available and being launched each week? Here are some questions you’ll want to ask when getting your app idea..."
