Last week, I posted up on Trigger Fist. Currently my favorite shooter, maybe of all time! So simple of an idea, really--create realistic 3-D combat settings, throw in a sacred goat and a team of highly skilled unfriendlies, and voila--simulated combat bliss! But alas, a miscue in the recent update has been causing problems, especially in terms of saving progress, Game Center stats and app crashes. So I thought I better post up on the current fix.
I just took my iPad and iPhone out of my backpack...
Everything was safe and dry.
Why would I think this might be interesting news? Well, I'm known for testing accessories rather aggressively, and the good folks at booq just sent me one of their favorite laptop/tablet backpacks to test. So I promptly hopped on my off-road motorcycle and went for a ride in rocky terrain, during a rainstorm. So yes, the fact that everything was safe and dry was good news.
The booq Mamba daypack is what I'm reviewing today and it's an excellent one!
Welcome to my weekly recap here at iPhone Life. Each week I take a look back at some of the top stories in the world of iOS that made headlines.
• When will the new iPad mini be released? Sources suggest at least a month after the iPhone 5.
• Apple vs Samsung: The jury is back, the verdict is in!
• Huge, free updates: Facebook gets a major overhaul, Gameloft's update to Order and Chaos brings great new features and Angry Birds: Space adds 20 new levels!
Match 3 games have become quite popular on the App Store, and it seems like every week several new offerings are released in the genre. Many developers have taken to releasing mash-ups, games which take the match 3 mechanic and combine it with some other genre in hopes of creating a unique playing experience. Toybox is one such mash-up, fusing match 3 game play with a basic scrolling shooter. The result is entertaining, challenging and somewhat frustrating – especially when you take into account that you are in effect playing two games at the same time. Talk about a new perspective on multi-tasking.
Quick, easy apps to learn are right up my ally! Whether you’re waiting for a train, bus or sitting at the doctor’s office, a low-skill, quick app is the perfect way to pass the time.
Objective: Try to help Marvin (your buddy/accomplice, I assume) steal all the money before time runs out and the cops arrive. Whether Marvin is a good guy or not isn’t quite clear. But for argument’s sake, let’s pretend he’s Robin Hood and giving to the poor (or something along those lines). There are twenty levels and you much clear each one before proceeding to the next level.
(note: the instructions appear to cut off at the end of the screen. You do need to scroll, but an arrow would be helpful here).
I was a little skeptical of the Audyssey Audio Dock Air when I first saw it, but thanks to some changes, it's now a great deal. The first change is a $100 discount from the $400 list price. The second change is Apple's pending micro dock which will make traditional docking speakers somewhat obsolete. Finally, the third change is AirPlay integration in Macs and PCs, in the latest verion of iTunes, and Mountain Lion.
