The rugged, waterproof case market has exploded this year, and now that summer is in full effect, people keep asking me, “Which waterproof iPhone case should I get?”
This time last year, Lifeproof had excellent offerings, and... well, that was really about it in terms of quality waterproof iPhone cases. This year however, there is no shortage of top-quality waterproof cases for your iPhone. Read on for a quick roundup of the best of the best available. And while I can't tell you which one is best suited to you, I can turn you on to some great options (some of which you may not have known about), and let you decide.
Do you love the natural beauty of wood? Do you want a break from all the metal and plastic of today’s mobile gadgets? Or maybe you are a true audiophile, a person who appreciates pristine audio reproduction when using your iDevice and its apps. If you fall into any of these categories, you'll be doing yourself a favor by checking out Griffin’s new WoodTones headphones ($99).
I’ve had the opportunity to try out many of the top over-the-ear headphones on the market, and I'm here to tell you, you will be hard pressed to find an all-around better pair for the money.
As a daily walking commuter in the city, I see many people like myself wearing headphones on their way to their destination. I've also noticed an interesting trend—more people are wearing full, outer-ear headsets versus the typical in-ear designs. I attribute this to the improved comfort and sound high-quality outer-ear headphones provide. Phiaton, a company that knows a thing or two about headphone audio reproduction, now offers a high-end model called the Bridge MS 500 ($299). Read on to discover if these headphones are the ones you've been looking for.
Powermat brings inductive charging to the masses through clever cases with integrated batteries, magnets, and chargers so you can simply place the device on one of its numerous chargers. Magnets help align the device and a distinctive beep tells you it's charging. I have been reporting on and following the tech company with great interest since its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2009.
If you have traveling geeks in your life (or are a geek traveler yourself) and are looking for two very cool tech products released this year, check out the booq Boa squeeze ($129.95)
and the FAVI Bluetooth Keyboard ($39.99)
(both plenty cool for non-geeks as well).
I have a couple of mini reviews, one news item, and a game preview for you this week. Goldenoid 3D builds on the old brick breaker clones with 3D awesomeness; Sledventure is a snow fort sliding/smashing block buster of sorts. You can grab them in the App Store for less than a $2 (a free ad-injected version of Goldenoid also available). Plus in this edition, some news on a new Kingdom Rush edition, and a YT preview of Cubemen 2. Let's dig in, shall we?
Among the App Store’s myriad games, it’s all too easy to overlook some of the greats. Game Centered features roundups and in-depth reviews of the best in iOS games and related gaming news.

When I reviewed Kingston's Wi-Drive around this time last year, I was impressed by the product's innovative solution to the fixed storage capacity of the iPhone and iPad. Even though 64 (or even 128) gigabytes of storage seems like plenty for an iOS device, it's really not if you shoot a lot of video or have a library full of high resolution photos. Before the Wi-Drive came on the market, you were stuck with either lugging along a laptop paired with the iPhone or iPad or using Apple's camera adapter kit. The Wi-Drive made it easy to transport a large volume of media and have it accessible to any Wi-Fi device.

It's great when you find a cool driving game, 3D shooter, or aerial fighting challenge to rock your iPad. But all three in one game?!! What some might call an overreach, I call a more action-packed game! Fire & Forget The Final Assualt ($1.99) is a Mad Max-like combat racing speed run that builds on the old 1980s Amiga franchise solidly, updating it for iOS and adding the ability to fly... Sweet!
