Review: Treasure Reef by Invisible Unit

image

There’s something about an underwater setting that promotes peace and tranquility – unless, of course, you’re a fish with a vengeance and can blow killer bubbles.  In Treasure Reef you play Herby, a fish trying to find the legendary treasure of Reef Island.  Unfortunately there are these nasty creatures called Creeps that will do whatever they can to make sure you don’t get that treasure.  You have 28 levels to prove them wrong and find out what the legend is.

Chillingham Manor iPhone App Review

image

Playing games on my iOS devices is always very entertaining, but if it is something that can make me think hen it is really exciting. One such game is Chillingham Manor by Synqua Games- Chillingham Manor is a well-designed puzzle game that is easy to play while on the go.

This game far exceeded my expectations on the first look. After seeing the screenshots and icons I thought the game might come under the action category involving zombies and ghosts. But after exploring the game I discovered it was actually a puzzle game with a fancy design and interface. There are zombies, ghosts, bats and much more on the screens makes the game feel haunted, but the game play is still just a puzzle game.

Review: Finger Raider by Nemo Games

image

As I’ve grown to have less time for playing games, I’ve come to appreciate the simpler things in entertainment.  For example, I’m just as content playing a quick dungeon crawler like Sword Of Fargoal now as I was playing a sprawling RPG like Might & Magic when I was in high school.  However, despite the fact that I’ve seen on many occasions where simple can be fun, simple doesn’t always mean fun.  Sadly, Finger Runner is the perfect example of this.  I think the concept is sound, but the execution is frustrating more than anything.

Monster Trouble Review

image

Monster Trouble is 3D Tower Defense fun, and make no mistake, this game will suck you into endless hours of grinding gameplay. If you like TD games already, and looking for one with a medieval theme, high-quality rendering and effects, and a bit of campy humor, then this is definitely your game.

Review: Dog Pile by ArtWitz Design / JoshOClock

image

I had never even heard of Pachinko until Peggle arrived on the iPhone, and now it seems like there are several different variants of the game on the App Store, most of them trying to disguise the fact that they are actually a Pachinko variant.  One of the latest such variants is Dog Pile, an interesting combination of Pachinko and Match 3, of all things.  Interestingly enough, it is probably one of my favorite versions so far.  Of course it doesn’t hurt that I’m a huge fan of match 3 games, and it’s also a bonus that the dogs are so cute!

Cweeture Jump iPhone App Review

image

I was just thinking of the dominance in the app store by the games where little birds play a major role. Of course best of them Angry Birds and Tiny wings, which are still on the top. When guys from Weeworld asked me to have a look at their recent work Cweeture Jump, I was into it immediately because of the interest in playing such funny bird ruling games.

What I Played this Week, and More News!

image

Haven't done this in awhile, so maybe I should call this "What I played this quarter!". I had to post up on JetCar Stunts though, since it's the latest game I can't stop playing (it's not a new title--released in 2009). Crazy addictive time killer is what it should be called!. Featured in iTunes essential games, you can grab it here at $1.99. Expansion course packs also available. The concept is to race through 3D high-flying aerial stunt courses with your rocket powered jet car (who wouldn't want one of those)... More app news follows...

App Review: Samurai Girl an Intense Action RPG game

image

When I read the description of CJ Internet’s new AppStore addition, Samurai Girl, I honestly thought the game maker—despite its successes in the past—might be out of its league.  A full-featured RPG for iOS isn’t something you stumble across every day.  And Samurai Girl looked like it was trying to be a whole lot more.

Best iPhone Games | iPhone Life Magazine

When searching for the best iPhone games, you can get lost in companies propaganda.  Articles like Top Ten FavoriteiPhone Games, can help to alleviate the stress.  The following snippets from articles can help you to decide what kind of game is better suited for you.

"Stinger Games' newly launched Stinger FoosballLeague takes a game that's already a step removed from reality into a truly virtual environment - topping as one of the best iPhone games.  Foosball, of course, is the table version of football or soccer.  With Stinger Foosball League, the field that was crammed into a table in a pub is now in your iOS device.  The premise sounds okay, but the execution is way cooler than it sounds.  That's because Stinger Foosball League is actually, well, cooler than actual foosball.  First of all, the 3D graphics and game physics are right on, putting this game at the forefront of console-style graphics on iOS.  Second of all, the view when playing real life foosball is… usually not that awesome. I'm sure there are people with foosball tables that are tricked out, but for most of us, they're usually a dingy affair.  But Stinger Foosball League hasn't been sitting in your uncle's basement for the past forty years.  Kick-ass flying cameras show off how much action there really is in a game known for being low-tech. And just to make it even more trippy, the ball leaves behind a golden light tail, kind of a comet-effect."

"The Universe of SPIRIT FORCE was inspired from the Japanese Samurai-era.  Discover an epic story giving you a social experience where players fight with monsters and collect Spirit Cards in order to save the world.  It places a core emphasis on player vs. player combat.  The player begins his journey as a member of the SPIRIT FORCE.  Battle with other players or clear the mission to get great treasure and rare card. Use crafting skills with the collected treasures in order to summon new Spirits.  Players can team up with friends and cooperate each other to fight against boss, unlock new rewards and new stages.  The most immersive and massively multiplayer online card game ever!"

Both of the previous two articles are on specific games, but perhaps you want a more comprehensive look on several games... The Free iPhone Games To Kick Off Your Summer articleis what you are looking for.
