Alien Shooter Ex: Action, Aliens, and Adventure

image

Alien Shooter Ex Free) is the new mobile launch from RNTS Media, and this ambitious 3D alien annihilation adventure aims high. An expansive 3D environment, missions similar to RPG quests, major character development, a complex storyline, tons of savage slaughtering, and so much more. It’s a lot to pack onto a small screen, and an even greater challenge to end up with something as immersive as the end product. Alien Shooter Ex is a continuation of the Alien Shooter franchise, which some gamers will be familiar with from its PC incarnations. The original game became an instant cult classic. Perhaps the best decision RNTS Media's made for the game was to port it to a variety of mobile platforms. Alien Shooter Ex is the new mobile expansion on the Alien Shooter theme, which involves an alien invasion via teleportation experiments gone wrong.

Type:Rider Game Review

image

I guess after you play or review a few high-caliber 3D action games—particularly ones with fast, stunning graphics and sound—you sort of become numb to similarly fantastic, over-the-top games. You overdose on them, or at least I do. You need to cleanse the palette, as it were. Eventually along will come a simple game, completely out of nowhere. No fancy 3D engine, shaders, or blazing polygon models. Just clever use of lighting, and in-game ambience that is so darn good, it is like discovering the wonder of your iPad for the first time. Type:Rider ($2.99) is exactly that kind of game.

Game-Centered: Leaked Images Show First of the Apple Certified Game Controllers.

image
With iOS 7 Apple has introduced support for MFi (Made for iPhone), third-party game controllers. I anticipate that over the next few months we will see a plethora of options along with this one, which is purported to be Logitech’s entry into the field. This image comes to us from @evleaks which has a pretty good reputation for accurate information.

What I Played this Week - Orborun, Gods VS Humans and Asphalt 8!

image

This was a good all-around gaming week: Three decent games, and only one featuring detested in-app purchases (IAPs). Top billing goes to Orborun ($1.99), which is a mind-melting 3D physics puzzler with multi-level high-flying courses and tricky obstacles. Gods VS Humans ($1.99) is a different strategy game that pits you against ancient humans that are trying to dethrone you as their deity—also great for the whole family. Asphalt 8: Airborne ($0.99), previously reviewed by Siva Om, is about as freaking cool a race game as you can find in the known universe.

I never would have imagined that I could improve my golf game with my iPhone, but now I can with the new GolfSense by Zepp. This golf swing analyzer works with a sensor in a glove and sends data to a free app on your phone. Amazing. Just attach the motion sensor to your favorite golf glove, download the app, and you are ready to start improving your game.

What I Played this Week - Undead Slayer, Pinball HD, and Time Slider!

image

It's been awhile since my last WIPTW postup, but the hardware review queue had been piling up. Anyway, I managed to grab at least three keepers this week, and all of them were free at the time of this writing (though two have now have reverted back to full price—sorry about that). First up is Undead Slayer (free), a 3D hack/slashfest; Pinball HD ($1.99 with 3 tables), a realistic pinball simulation; and finally Time Surfer ($0.99), a side-scrolling slider akin to Tiny Wings.

Phiaton's Bridge MS 500 Headphones: Serious Contenders for Best of 2013.

image

One of our editors here at iPhone Life recently asked me which pair of headphones I would vote for as best headphone of the year. Without hesitation I replied that in my opinion Phiaton’s Bridge MS 500 ($269.00) deserved that honor. These uniquely crafted headphones take precision sound sculpting to a whole new level. And when I use the word sculpting, that is exactly what these superior headphones do. Like a master sculptor, the Bridge MS 500s take the acoustics of whatever you're listening to and mold and funnel the sounds to get the maximum dynamic range out of each and every note.

Best iPhone Games | iPhone Life Magazine

When searching for the best iPhone games, you can get lost in companies propaganda.  Articles like Top Ten FavoriteiPhone Games, can help to alleviate the stress.  The following snippets from articles can help you to decide what kind of game is better suited for you.

"Stinger Games' newly launched Stinger FoosballLeague takes a game that's already a step removed from reality into a truly virtual environment - topping as one of the best iPhone games.  Foosball, of course, is the table version of football or soccer.  With Stinger Foosball League, the field that was crammed into a table in a pub is now in your iOS device.  The premise sounds okay, but the execution is way cooler than it sounds.  That's because Stinger Foosball League is actually, well, cooler than actual foosball.  First of all, the 3D graphics and game physics are right on, putting this game at the forefront of console-style graphics on iOS.  Second of all, the view when playing real life foosball is… usually not that awesome. I'm sure there are people with foosball tables that are tricked out, but for most of us, they're usually a dingy affair.  But Stinger Foosball League hasn't been sitting in your uncle's basement for the past forty years.  Kick-ass flying cameras show off how much action there really is in a game known for being low-tech. And just to make it even more trippy, the ball leaves behind a golden light tail, kind of a comet-effect."

"The Universe of SPIRIT FORCE was inspired from the Japanese Samurai-era.  Discover an epic story giving you a social experience where players fight with monsters and collect Spirit Cards in order to save the world.  It places a core emphasis on player vs. player combat.  The player begins his journey as a member of the SPIRIT FORCE.  Battle with other players or clear the mission to get great treasure and rare card. Use crafting skills with the collected treasures in order to summon new Spirits.  Players can team up with friends and cooperate each other to fight against boss, unlock new rewards and new stages.  The most immersive and massively multiplayer online card game ever!"

Both of the previous two articles are on specific games, but perhaps you want a more comprehensive look on several games... The Free iPhone Games To Kick Off Your Summer articleis what you are looking for.
