Pictosoft’s Medal of Gunner (MOG) combines elements of flight simulation and first-person shooter mechanics to deliver high energy World War II-era dogfights to your screen.
Considering how many apps are available in the Apple app store, not to mention how many are actually on my iPhone (close to 300), it's a bit daunting of a task to come up with only 10 apps to recommend here and now! There are simply so many amazing and award-winning apps out there and each is suited to an individual uniquely.
is a 3D physics/puzzle game that is a beauty to behold on the iPad, but before I give my review, I have to do a mini-review of the awesomely redesigned SugarSync (which is not a game--sorry about that). The old version of SS (a cloud file syncing app--reviewed here
), was not well suited to iPad, but the coders have fixed that in their recent upgrade! So before I tell you how great Fibble is, I want to tell you how great SugarSync
Violet storm is a game which has the same general concept as the ‘Asteroids’ game from years ago. Flying through space while shooting at different things which if you don’t kill them they will cause damage. This is much more complex than the original asteroids game though. First, there are many different types of enemies including asteroids but also enemies which will attack you and pursue you.
During the game you collect different ‘power ups’ which make your weapons more powerful or give you additional life or shielding. As you progress through the progressively more difficult waves you’ll be running into more and more complex enemies which will not only attempt to crash into you but also attack you with weapons of their own.
Sheep In The Sky is the first outing from Stimulus Response Games, and if this is any indication of their capabilities I think we’re in for some good things ahead. It’s a deceptively basic puzzle game, where the object is to get the sheep to the gate found somewhere on each level. The graphics are cute, giving it even more of an air of simplicity. You’ll soon find, however, that some of the levels will take more than a few seconds of thought to conquer. The game sucks you in early and keeps you glued even when you’re about ready to toss your device against a wall because a level seems unsolvable.
Endless War, a vertical space shooter recently launched by Omnitel, Inc. is a satisfying, if not particularly imaginative, take on alien blasting.
I haven't done a "What I Played" column in a while, mainly due to lack of time to play much of anything. As the saying goes about all work and no play--so decided it was time to take a break and grab some new games! This week I downloaded Action Block Buster, a multi-spacial brick breaking experience; nulis, a physics game which defies description; and an exceptional rail shooter freebie from Disney called Motorcity. Read on for the full WIPTW ("What I played this week") roundup of these new games.
I’ve played quite a number of time management games over the course of my reviews, and generally I find that the more hectic they are the more fun they tend to be. Of course the chaos needs to be organized, but the key is that there has to be a lot to do. Occasionally, though, I just want to have a nice, relaxing time, and Streetfood Tycoon fills that bill quite nicely. At times it almost feels more like an arcade game than a time management sim, but lest you forget you can always check all the stats to bring you back to reality. The important thing is that the game is fun, and I have become rather addicted to the game play and atmosphere.
With the large success of mob boss games found on the market; many developers are tapping into its popularity to create the newest one. This includes Big Gun; a mafia style game that offers deadly missions, amazing parties, loud music, and the opportunity to run an entire criminal gang. Of course; you are not automatically the boss when you first begin. As with any mob game; you have to work up to being the head honcho and this particular game will have you working hard.
