Start Your Own Business Making Custom Cases

image

The iPhone and iPad ushered in the Post-PC era; and when the App Store launched, it created a new economy. As an app developer, I've been able to ride that wave and it has been an incredible journey. If you would like to piggyback on the success of the iPhone, but aren't a programmer, there may be another way.

Otterbox Defender and Symmetry Offer Style and Substance

image

I had the opportunity to try the Otterbox Defender and Symmetry Series ($39.95 - $59.95). OtterBox gave me a variety of cases to try, in assorted color combinations. They offer a dizzying array of choices and have come a long way since the old days of basic black cases with the rare yellow or white option.

My Favorite iPhone Cases for Every Situation

image

I understand that others might not change their iPhone cases daily like I do, but I think we can all agree that there are times when you need something different then your "everyday" case. Here are the cases that I'm using right now—for every situation.

Olloclip Does it Again, Big Time

image

I've written often about Olloclip and their clip-on lenses for iPhones. Their latest batch supports both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, using an insert for each phone. This is great if you have both types of phones in your household, or if you might upgrade later. We have a few iPhone 6 phones in the family, but might add a 6 Plus to the household, so it's always nice when accessory makers keep multiple devices in mind.

The Mojo Refuel Invictus Conquers iPhone Power Drain with Aplomb!

image

iPhone 6 has its improved battery life going for it, but who minds a few more potential electrons in the bullpen, or in this case (yes, I pun) more than double? The $99.99 ibattz Mojo Invictus Refuel (what a mouthful) slams another 125 percent charge on your 6 with its replaceable 3200 mAh case power pack. It's a bit quirky to install, but once it's ensconced, you will not be disappointed in the protection and extra powerwith the unique option (and first I have seen) of replacing the case battery.

Versatile Cases from Verus

image
The hard part about choosing a case from Verus is that there are so many choices. And the difference between the cases are subtle but significant. I had the opportunity to try several of their cases, for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and it was quite difficult to pick a favorite. So let's start with what they all have in common. They offer all-around protection, which includes the bottom of the iPhone, where many cases leave the phone vulnerable.

DX-6 Battery Case Breakdown

image

The UNU DX-6 ($79.95) is a fabulous looking (and feeling) iPhone 6 case that comes with a screen protector and a headphone extender cable. The tough and sturdy case can add up to 18 hours of talk time (or 63 hours of music playback or 313 hours of standby time) to your iPhone 6, at least according to the technical specs. The technical hype turned out to be quite accurate in my experience.

CES 2015: Rugged Gear Highlights

image

After scouring the sprawling sea of tech-gear that is CES, here's a compilation of the best of the adventure-proof, rugged gear that was on display. While not all of the items featured here are available for order quite yet, all of these products are expected to start shipping by Q2 this year, sometime around March most likely. Read on after the break to see what's coming in the world of heavy-duty gear for our iOS devices.

CES 2015 Recap: Creative Cases

image

After a long week at the Consumer Electronics Show, it's time to reflect on what we just experienced. CES isn't really just a show anymore; it's a show of shows, each with its own theme. When I get back each year, my friends and family ask me what was "The Big Thing?" Because the show is so big, I've decided to break down the "theme" into multiple themes. This year, the different "big things" were as follows:

iPhone Cases, iPad Covers, iPod Sleeves | iPhone Life Magazine

The market for iPhone cases is increasing exponentially with the release of the new iPhone 4S.  The companies that make the cases are always looking for more ways to capture their customers attention.  Whether practicality or style is more important, we review the products so that you don't have to.

Are you looking for a durable clip-on case for your new iPhone 4S? There are plenty of choices that exist already, thanks to the fact that the new iPhone's dimensions are the same as the original iPhone 4. One of the more recent cases to hit the market is Ballistic's Sport Rugged Universal Smartphone Pouch. How does it stack up to the competition? Read on to find out.

iPhone cases are getting to be like jewelry… there seems to be a different case for every occasion. If the occasion is rugged outdoor activity, the Ballistic offers a tough, scratch-resistant nylon vertical flip case with a thick clip that holds on snuggly to a belt or strap. While it is just slightly on the bulky side, the case is lined along the bottom and sides with a stitched ridge that will absorb the shock of a drop fairly well.

If the occasion is more flashy (Gaga Style)... There are a lot of case makers out there, but there's only one Lady Gaga.  And LuxMobile has licensed her images and designs for their line of cases.  No strangers to luxury licensing, LuxMobile also offers cases with Ed Hardy and other trendy designs.  More feminine-friendly cases are becoming popular, and the Lady Gaga collection presented several options.  There is the understated 'diamond pattern' Romance style, but true Gaga fans may want something more outlandish.  No 'meat' cases currently, but you never know.

Surc is a case and app combo that turns your iphone into a universal remote control. What makes this device stand out from the crowd is that the unit is sleek and adds little to the size or weight of the phone. Usually you have to add an attachment to the phone to convert it into a remote. Not with this one.  This remote goes above and beyond your basic remote. You can control multiple items in a room. On top of that, I was really impressed with the capabilities and customization that this unit allows. Add the buttons you want, move them around the screen, even use gestures to control your device. Shake the iPhone and you turn on or off your TV. Watch the video to see even more features.
