The new iAlbums app was designed to bring back the experience of buying more than just a song when you purchase music. In the past when you purchased music it would typically come with the CD (or tape or record) along with a bunch of information about the song and the artist. Since people began using programs such as iTunes to download their music they no longer got any of these extras. They just get the song to play in their mp3 player. While the music is the primary reason people like purchasing songs, it is much more enjoyable when they get the full experience.
The Vikersund ski flying app is a simple game where you play as a skier who is attempting a ski jump. You tap to begin skiing down the hill and at the right moment you tap the screen to jump. The goal is to get as far as possible during your jump. You can play either single player or against someone. Single player you have to beat scores which are computer generated, of course for multi-player you are going against your friend.
Picture hangman is a new app available which is similar to traditional hangman but rather than guessing letters, you guess little pieces of the overall picture. In picture hangman there is a picture in place of where the word would normally go. For example, one puzzle solution would be a picture of a woman’s purse. Now these pictures are similar to chalk drawings, not actual photographs. At the bottom of the screen there are a bunch of pieces of pictures, also in chalk. You need to attempt to figure out which of the small pictures at the bottom of the screen belong in the picture and which don’t.
There are many different emoticon apps that are available, but AniEmoticons offers a vast selection of emoticons with a variety of features. This particular app is perfect for using picture icons to make your emails and text messages more entertaining to read. In fact, there are so many different options on this app that you can literally type a full message without using any words!
The iPhone and iPad have been extremely popular for a number of things since they came out but one thing which has been surprising by many is how many great educational uses there is for them. One type of education app which many people might never know about is those which are designed for very young children. The music color app is designed to not only help little kids learn their colors but also get a great appreciation for music. The app is set up with large panels of different colors for little kids to choose and interact with in a simple way.
This blog post was originally written by one of my developers and I thought I would share it with the iPhone Life community, especially those interested in developing their own apps. For those that are thinking about developing an app, make sure that you create your own developer account for $99 and don't simply use the account of whatever company you choose to develop your app - see below for the main reasons why.
Do you own an iPhone 4S and really wish Siri worked for you? I feel your pain. It doesn't make sense that Siri works exclusively for the 4S. It's just not fair. Ok, now that we are over that, what can we do? How about hiring her 1st cousin? Let me introduce you to SpeakToIt ($1.99). Not a very appealing name, I agree so if you ask her what her name is, she says it's Sam, just Sam. I refer to her as a 1st cousin because she uses the same voice recognition that Siri uses, Nuance. Understand though that she is not as talented as her cousin. She can find coffee and gas nearby, give directions, send messages and e-mail and a number of other things Siri does. She is also able to update Facebook and Twitter, which Siri won't do.
The Stone Age game is a fairly straight forward game with a top down view where you control a cave man who is out hunting for meat. On the iPhone the controls are fairly simple with moving is done by tilting the device left or right. Attacking is done by simply tapping the screen where you want to throw a club and defense works by swiping a finger across the screen.
Hurry, Hurry. Pocket Informant is on sale until February 18. You can scoop the iPad app for $9.99 instead of $14.99 and the iPhone/iPod Touch app for $7.99 instead of $12.99.
The Vote Me app is a new political game where you are ‘competing’ against all the other users of this app to get as many votes as possible, and eventually become the first ‘social president’. You run your social presidential campaign on any platform you’d like to attempt to get votes. Whether you use it to help promote awareness of local causes, natural concerns or just for fun, you can add in any issues you want to help get attention to yourself.
Best iPhone Apps, iPad Apps, iPod Touch Apps | iPhone Life Magazine
We review the Best iPhone Apps, iPad Apps, and iPod Touch Apps. Whether you want to play a game (like Chillingham Manor), navigate with GPS, or discover new apps, you can easily get lost. There are so many on the market and the number is increasing on a daily basis. So where to begin? The following examples are just a few of what is out there.
The Head Finder is one of the iPhone apps around. It is a task management or schedule management that helps you organize all the different things you have to do. It has a very simple user interface and it seems they designed all the most common functions to be done with as little tapping and typing as possible which is a real time saver. Several time management apps, in the past, have seemed to waste more time entering events and tasks into the app than you might save by being more organized. With Head Finder you can have a new task entered in less than thirty seconds with their quick three tap process to create a reminder.
Another one of the best Iphone apps we've seen is The JumiCam. This app allows you to view streaming video from any web cam you want with ease. It's easy to set up the software on your PC and then connect your phone to see what's going on at your house. The JumiCam also works very well on either a 3G connection or WiFi. This app allows you to connect to as many different web cams as you want so you can monitor your entire house while you're away if you want. It can really take the place of an entire security service if you wanted it to. There are many ways to use this, from keeping an eye on a babysitter while you're out on a date to making sure your pet is safe at home while you're at work.
As the name describes, U.S. Traveller is made for travelers that call the United States their home and travel to countries outside their own. In opening the iPhone app, on the "Countries" tab, you are presented with a list of countries & their correlating flags. The added flags next to the country names are a nice touch, especially since most people can quickly find a country based on visual representation versus textual representation. You can travel from the U.S. to numerous countries - Chile, Argentina, Germany & Italy to name a few. This may not adequately prepare you for the countries you visit, but this will for sure help you. The amount of information and the ease of access it gives to people is incredibly invaluable.
