App Review - The Dream by Swipea

image

The dream is a children's story about the main character named Ahmad and his adventure.  The book can be either read by kids, or the app will read it to the children making it a fun app for kids from about age two through twelve.  In addition to the story this app includes a 'fact find' section where you can tap on highlighted words while reading the story to learn some fun facts such as what different words mean.  There is also a 'happy bazzar' which is a place to find related apps quickly and easily.  There are several related apps to choose from and with a quick tap you'll be taken right to the app store.

iDoc's Top 10 iPhone App Recommendations.

image

Considering how many apps are available in the Apple app store, not to mention how many are actually on my iPhone (close to 300), it's a bit daunting of a task to come up with only 10 apps to recommend here and now! There are simply so many amazing and award-winning apps out there and each is suited to an individual uniquely.

What I played this week - Fibble and SugarSync!

image

Fibble HD is a 3D physics/puzzle game that is a beauty to behold on the iPad, but before I give my review, I have to do a mini-review of the awesomely redesigned SugarSync (which is not a game--sorry about that). The old version of SS (a cloud file syncing app--reviewed here), was not well suited to iPad, but the coders have fixed that in their recent upgrade! So before I tell you how great Fibble is, I want to tell you how great SugarSync has become...

Violet Storm App Review

image

Violet storm is a game which has the same general concept as the ‘Asteroids’ game from years ago.  Flying through space while shooting at different things which if you don’t kill them they will cause damage.  This is much more complex than the original asteroids game though.  First, there are many different types of enemies including asteroids but also enemies which will attack you and pursue you.

During the game you collect different ‘power ups’ which make your weapons more powerful or give you additional life or shielding.  As you progress through the progressively more difficult waves you’ll be running into more and more complex enemies which will not only attempt to crash into you but also attack you with weapons of their own.

Look to Livio to make your next car more iOS friendly

image

Our readers know of Livio Radio (see my review here) for their Bluetooth in car radio hardware kit, available at your local Radio Shack, but you may not know that they have created Livio Connect, an API targeted at hardware makers and app developers. I had the opportunity to speak with Jake Sigal, CEO of Radio.

Endless War: An Epic Intergalactic Battle for the iOS

Endless War, a vertical space shooter recently launched by Omnitel, Inc. is a satisfying, if not particularly imaginative, take on alien blasting.

InFrame Foto: Powerful Functionality, Simple Interface, Instant Art and its Free!

image

It takes a great development team to put the power of iOS to work doing something useful in a third party app.  It takes a really great dev team to create something that’s not only useful, but produces superior results.  Apparently, InFrame Foto has a really, really great dev team.

InFrame Foto is a photo editing app that shines most when it comes to creating your own personal photo collages.  Rather than being an overall photo editor, InFrame Foto focuses on being the best of the best at giving you options to create great mash-ups of your pics.

Best iPhone Apps, iPad Apps, iPod Touch Apps | iPhone Life Magazine

We review the Best iPhone Apps, iPad Apps, and iPod Touch Apps.  Whether you want to play a game (like Chillingham Manor), navigate with GPS, or discover new apps, you can easily get lost.  There are so many on the market and the number is increasing on a daily basis.  So where to begin?  The following examples are just a few of what is out there.

The Head Finder is one of the iPhone apps around. It is a task management or schedule management that helps you organize all the different things you have to do.  It has a very simple user interface and it seems they designed all the most common functions to be done with as little tapping and typing as possible which is a real time saver.  Several time management apps, in the past, have seemed to waste more time entering events and tasks into the app than you might save by being more organized.  With Head Finder you can have a new task entered in less than thirty seconds with their quick three tap process to create a reminder.

Another one of the best Iphone apps we've seen is The JumiCam. This app allows you to view streaming video from any web cam you want with ease.  It's easy to set up the software on your PC and then connect your phone to see what's going on at your house.  The JumiCam also works very well on either a 3G connection or WiFi. This app allows you to connect to as many different web cams as you want so you can monitor your entire house while you're away if you want.  It can really take the place of an entire security service if you wanted it to.  There are many ways to use this, from keeping an eye on a babysitter while you're out on a date to making sure your pet is safe at home while you're at work.

As the name describes, U.S. Traveller is made for travelers that call the United States their home and travel to countries outside their own. In opening the iPhone app, on the "Countries" tab, you are presented with a list of countries & their correlating flags. The added flags next to the country names are a nice touch, especially since most people can quickly find a country based on visual representation versus textual representation. You can travel from the U.S. to numerous countries - Chile, Argentina, Germany & Italy to name a few. This may not adequately prepare you for the countries you visit, but this will for sure help you. The amount of information and the ease of access it gives to people is incredibly invaluable.
