Proporta Sale Gives You a Chance to Cover Your New Gadget at a Discount

image

Your new iPhone or iPad is beautiful but it should be protected. If you didn't get a case this holiday season, Proporta has got you covered, literally. In addition to a wide array of cases and sleeves for iPhones and iPads, they have a 20 percent off sale going on to make those cases more affordable.

Take Stable Selfies with iStabilizer Monopod and Shutter Remote

image

Selfies are all the rage, but that doesn't mean they are great to look at. When you hold your arm out and try to snap a photo, it's never going to be as good as if someone else took the shot. There are some apps and Bluetooth gadgets like the iStabilizer Shutter Remote that make it easier to snap the picture, either by clapping or touching a button, but unless the phone is positioned properly, you're still going to get a dud of a photo.

Apple TV AirPlay Mirroring Could Work Both Ways

image

Apple TV's AirPlay mirroring feature has been a great reason to own an Apple TV. Users can launch videos on a portable iOS device and "throw" the display to the big screen. Games can be shared with an audience as well. It's a great tool for education, as teachers can find a video on their iPad or iPhone and share it with the classroom.

IOgrapher Turns Your iPad Into a Professional Videography Solution

image

Videography and the iPad don't usually go together. And that's a shame because the large screen of the iPad and even the iPad mini make for a great video editing tool. Without a USB port or SD card slot, transferring video files to the iPad is a hassle, even with AirDrop. Ideally, you could easily record quality video on the iPad and edit it immediately using iMovie or third party apps.

Trying to Decide if You Want a Short or Long Cable? Get Both with CordCruncher!

image

I recently added a new car stereo and it comes with a USB port for charging and music playback. I love it because the sound quality is better than Bluetooth, and I can keep my iPhone charged while on long trips. I have been on the lookout for the right sized cable that's not too long and not too short. The last thing I want in the car is a a forty-inch cable interfering with driving.

Do Away With Your Wallet With the SAFE Wallet Case

image

If you bought an iPhone 6 Plus, you probably have enough to carry around, so wouldn't it be nice if you didn't need to carry a separate wallet? After all, you can use Apple Pay to pay for many purchases, and for those times when you need a photo ID or traditional credit card, a fullsize wallet would be overkill. The folks at BulletTrain had a case for the iPhone 5 that doubled as a wallet, and now they are using Kickstarter to fund an iPhone 6 Plus version.

Holiday Crunch Time: Last Minute Deals

image

Forget Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Those days are in the past. It is now the week of Christmas and any hopes of getting a gift in time require either spending a fortune in shipping, buying a virtual gift online, or, my preference, buying local. If I needed a reminder of this, all I had to do was look at my inbox this morning. While it's normally full of app review requests, today I saw a ton of "Last Chance" emails!

Gift Guide for Tweens and Teens

As our kids get older, their wish lists seem to get smaller and more expensive. No more asking for Barbie dolls and Matchbox cars—we're on to iPads, iPhones, and Bluetooth accessories.

Danalock Review: Smart Door Security for the Connected Home!

image

The Poly-Control Danalock is a Bluetooth-enabled smartlock ($159, varies by model) designed to work with your existing dead bolt. Once installed, you can control the dead bolt from your iPhone, configure it to auto-unlock when you are in proximity to the door, and allow others to similarly lock/unlock your doors. I had to wrestle with it a bit to get it installed and working, but the concept works well once it is configured.

iPhone accessories is a growing market and knowing where to start looking is half the battle.  Whether you're looking for an iPhone accessories, iPad accessories or iPod Touch accessories you can find articles here on the latest products. For example, here's a snippet from an Arm Bands Review

"Have you ever tried to run with your iPhone in your pocket? It's more awkward than running with scissors. Your phone smacks against your thigh during every step or worse, falls out every few feet. Running with your device in hand is not much better. The headphone cord flops everywhere, and your hand is uncomfortable the entire time. The first step to taking your iPhone or iPod Touch on a run (please don't run with your iPad) is securing it to your body. Armbands can take a little getting used to (it feels slightly like running with a blood pressure cuff) but they are definitely much better than keeping your iPhone or iPod Touch in your pocket. Here are some solutions I've tried out..."

Here's a 2 Cases Comparison article: "There are two cases that protect your iPhone from just about anything: The Ballistic Hard Core and The Otterbox Defender.  So which to buy?  Both provide the best protection you can buy. The Ballistic provides five layers of protection. The Otterbox provides three. However, the three layers are all that's needed for most people. If you're a telephone repair man or think you might drop your phone three stories, then you might want the extra layers of the Ballistic..."
